Ivy--vwngr-Y' l l calendar 10. Summer vacation is over. Books and pencils are put to use once more as we meet with our old friends and teachers. SEPTEMBER: 8. The boys got off to a good start by defeating Hurricane 18-6 in first football pre-season game. 21. Provo came to Payson for a football game. We put up a good fight, but they walked off with a win defeating us 14-0. 21. Initiation Day! The sophomores were feted to a party. 28. Our team was in top form as we defeated Spanish Fork 39-0 on our field. Get Acquainted Dance followed where a good time was had by all. OCTOBER: 5. Lyceum on a safety program by Clarence Smith. Everyone thought it to be very educational and interesting. We played Orem at Orem and were defeated by a score of 14-O. 18. Spirit was high when we met with Carbon here. The boys fought hard but we were defeated 12-45. 26. Luck seemed to be against the Lions when we met with Springville. We were defeated 28-6. The Seminary Dance Harvest Moon was held the same evening and Spanish and Springville were our visitors. It was a very good dance. -RR- rid NOVEMBER: 1-2. School Play entitled Time Out for Ginger . The 9. 16. 21. 30. play involved a girl who would rather engage in boys' sports, especially football. lt was very outstanding. National Assembly. He really made electricity interesting. Chorus presented an excellent assembly for the studentbody. A band concert was held in the Tabernacle to complete funds for new uniforms. F.F.A. presented a good assembly for studentbody Payson was defeated by eight points in the first pre-season basketball game at Bingham. DECEMBER: 6-7. An evening of one-act plays was enioyed by 8. 10. 12. 13. 14. 15. 19. the students. The plays were: The First Dress Suit, The Revolt of Mother, and Yes Means No. Richfield at Payson. Victory for the Lions. Wrestling at Lehi. The boys represented us well. Payson at Tintic. Victory for the Lions. Basketball team takes annual trip. The first night they beat Union High. They lost to Wasatch at Heber by a small margin. Altamont comes to Payson and victory was ours. Payson invades Millard. We wonl

Z0. The girls had a sleepless night at the annual F.H.A. slumber party. Santa visited at midnight and distributed candy to the energetic group. Zl. F.H.A. assembly was the Night Before Christmas. it was very good. Merlin, the Magician, held the studentbady spellbound. His program was well received. Seminary Christmas Dance. Silver Bells was chosen theme and the holilay season began. 22. Basketball game with Cyprus at Payson. We lost. 23. Messiah was presented in tre Tabernacle by the chorus under the direction of J. D. Christenson. lt was well appreciated by the audience. 26. During the holidays the Juab Wasps were defeat- ed by the Lions in an overtime game. Z7. Our ball team goes to Lehi. They were to much for us. IANUARY: 3. School starts again! Basketball season brought good exchange assemblies. 4. Springville is too much for the Lions and defeated us in the first season game of the year by a score of 58-50. The Pep Club presented a very out- standing half-time march to start their season. i. Payson invaded Orem and we met defeat 65-35. 6. Lions lose to Dons as rivals meet by score of 64.56. Payson quint met the Provo Bulldogs and were edged by a score of 70-40. Victory at last! Lions defeat Carbon on home floor 49-45. Founders Day. The students enioyed a one-day vacation. FEBRUARY: Devils vs. Lions. Lions led until final minutes. We lost 58-55. Orem invaded Payson. They won 41-38. Lions clash again with the Dons and are defeated in an overtime game 58-55. L.D.S. Business College assembly. Seminary Banquet. Presentation of pins. A good time was had by all. Provo was our guest. Game was close but they defeated us in final minutes 64-58. Carbon walked away with a victory over Payson in final game of season. The score was 55-52. Senior Hop. Dream was chosen to be the theme. Decorations were effective and it was an out- standing dance. Opera. Fortune Teller. lt was very successful.
