baseball The baseball team, coached by Verl Sudweeks, got an early start this spring. There were several re- turning lettermen on the team. New talent is being found among the Juniors and Sophomores. The Lions should be good on defense as well as hitting with pitching being the main problem. With the team's spirit and hustle they should make a fine showing in this years competition. Payson High School's tennis team was in fine shape by the time league competition opened in April. Five regular matches were played by this years team. Some members of the team partici- pated in the B.Y.U. lnvitationals and the Regional Tennis Meet. This years team had five returning lettermen and several other players with a great deal of experience. This was the best team Payson has had in recent years. As the season progressed the members of the team improved greatly giv- ing all their rivals some stiff competition and winning a fair share of their matches. The Payson High School track team and field team supervised and trained by Coach Durrant are looking forward to a very successful year. With some fine Iettermen and other members show- ing great promise, the Lions should again make Payson High proud of them. Lyle and Paul get on their mark in spring practice. Q-L-f-23'
