CLASS HISTORY As we come to the close of our final year of our high school career we pause a moment to look back over our previous years and remember all events which stand out forever in our memories. We started our school years in 1940. Robert Jorgenson, Hugo Roche, Verlyn Stahl and George Hartman are our only remaining students who started in Kindergarten to continue through 13 years at Paxton. Mr. Paden was our sponsor. We had 22 students enrolled as we started our Freshman year. Robert Flebbe and Elden Harms dropped out after the first semester and Madonna Birt left for Colorado at the end of the year. We started our Sophomore year with 19 students and none dropped out. Miss Kosuge and Miss Cummings were our class sponsors. We had 19 students starting our Junior year and Mr. O'Gara and Mr. Bailey were our sponsors. Bill Brown dropped out before the semester and Beverly Flebbe and Willa Briggs dropped out at the end of the year. During our Junior year we produced the play, Hobgoblin House, directed by Miss Mikkelsen. We gave the Junior-Senior prom and banquet with the theme Old Fashioned Garden as our theme. Our banquet was held in the Methodist Church and our Prom was held in the school gym. In our Senior year we had 17 students. Our pictures were taken November 1. We had our third annual homecoming. Kay Anderson was Queen and Verlyn Stahl was King. We produced the Senior Class Play, under the direction of Miss Mikkelsen, entitled 'My Friend Irma. Mr. Mullens was our class sponsor. We all helped work on the annual and school paper. Baccalaureate services were held on May 11. On May 14, we tearfully received our high school diplomas, so ending our happy years at P. H. S.
