Varsity Basketball Managers: Jim Hyde, Brian Funk, Gary Coleman. We played good, very aggressive basketball this year. That's what Head Coach Zimmerman had to say about his first season team. The team was young this year and we will have four of the first five starters back next season for a crack at the conference. They ran a fine half-court zone, which impressed the coach. The Mustangs were 3-8 in conference action and 7-17 in over-all play this season. They displayed fine team work and had some fantastic and very close games and upsets. They traveled to Westville where they beat out the Tigers in a nail-biter in overtime. In the Mon-ticello Holiday Tournament the Mustangs played an almost perfect game to overcome Mahomet-Sey-mour. They finished fourth in that tourney. Even though they (Paxton) were lacking in height, it was a very quick team. Their fast break plus aggressive play played a major roll in helping Paxton defeat the awesome Dan-ville-Schlarman. Paxton didn't win many games this year, but they did improve. This was a year of rebuilding. Greg Williams scores on a drive, while Larry Carter, Cary Colwell, and Gary Anderson position for a rebound. Front row: Doug Niewold, Greg Williams. Ron Norman, Steve Douglas, Jeff Cox, Carl Hasselbring. Back row: Jim Pilcher, Art Tuggle. Kevin Smith, Gary Anderson, Larry Carter. Tom Graham, Cary Colwell. 29
