Lynn Weisenbarn does a swan on the balance beam. Gymnasts form a human pyramid. Larry Steiner. Charlie Owens, and Kelly Molck form a totem pole. Speed and accuracy play a large role in gymnastics. Without split-second timing, there would be a twenty-five person pile-up on the cross-vaulting box exercise. This would happen if just one person's timing was off. Even in individual events, timing is essential on the trampoline, balance beam, or parallel bars. Of course, all this talent doesn't come naturally. As they say, Practice makes perfect! If you attend the annual gymnastics show, you'll see for yourself that practice and hard work pay off. 23

Track Does track seem difficult to you? Can you run or jump better than the other guy? Well, everyone knows that it's a hard sport that needs a lot of practice. Evidently, that's exactly what our 74 track team did since it had a very good season. The Varsity team won the Ford County meet for the second year in a row. Our freshman-sophomore team won the St. Anne and Paxton Invitational. And you can't forget the trackettes” for cheering boys on when they needed it most. That's real Mustang spirit. Junior Varsity: Front row: Jim Hyde. Doug Niewold, Rick Gooden, Doug Mikeworth, David Bittinger, Bryan Mikeworth. Alan Schroeder, Carl Hasselbring. Back row: Bill Owens, Tim DeShasier - mgr., Larry Carter, Art Tuggle, Mark Maehle, Greg Longfellow, Larry Steiner. Ben Lee hands off the baton to John Overstreet in the mile relay. Varsity: Front row: Dave Petmecky, Curt Bloom, Kenny Fuoss, Cary Colwell, Ron Wood-worth, Don Frichtl. Rick Jones. Dan Ostgard. Back row: Gary Anderson, Kevin Carpenter, John Overstreet, Ben Lee, Jim Pilcher. Tom Graham. Russell Faust, Roger Behrens, Phil Meyer, Kevin Mikeworth. Come on, baby! Doug Mikeworth attempts to pole vault. 24
