Class Day Baccalaureate and Graduation Graduation days meant that the class of '74 would have to leave the world of study halls, detentions, and flying stoppers for the world of jobs, coping with the responsibilities of adulthood. Class Day was as it has been in the past. At Baccalaureate mothers of graduating students were given the traditional roses, acknowledging years of pep talks to encourage their kids. At Graduation senior girls carried yellow roses in the procession for the first time. Three members of the graduating class were the speakers at Commencement exercises. Traditionally, graduates received their diplomas, said good-bye to the old world they had known, and dreamed of what the future would bring.
