Plays Involve Many You're a Good Man, Charlie Brown was presented in April as the all-school spring play. The musical was highlighted by all the Peanuts charactors and a chorus of kiteflying, bat-swinging extras. Charlie Brown spouted his philosophies regarding happiness, peanut butter, and the little red-haired girl, as the light-hearted comedy was presented to capacity crowds on two evenings. Audience participation was key in the presentation of the all-school fall play, Reserve Two for Murder . Cast members were scattered throughout the audience, involving the spectators in the plot. A minimal amount of publicity kept the mystery-murder a secret during the weeks of practice. The suspense was thick in the air on the nights of November 10-11, as everyone was a suspect in the two murders. Mrs. George Thurston-Alien (Shelley Kofler) shoots Lee (Jeff Watkins) before frightened witnesses. Winter and Christmas spirit and good will pervaded Paxton High School as Christmas approached. Harper, starring Paul Newman, shown on December 22, kept the students on the edge of their seats, not in excitement of the chase scene, but in anticipation of the coming vacation. Several classes risked the wrath of the office by having forbidden parties in the days preceding vacation. PHS hosted the annual Holiday Tourney in which they placed third, beating Gibson City in a barnburner, 63-62. Dormouse (Kathy Gronemeyer) sleeps while Mad Hatter (Dan Rust) and March Hare (Patty Graham) enjoy a tea party. Queen of Hearts (Debbie Dazey) threatens to behead everyone in sight when Alice (Cindy Rose) is accused of stealing the tarts. Alice in Wonderland was the Thespian-produced Xmas play. 22
