Christmas The “Christmas Paradise” dance was held on December 1 8, at the Clara Peterson School, where the Junior class decorated the gym, giving it the effect of a winter fantasy. Reigning for the evening were the King and Queen of Christmas, Dan Coplea and Linda Adkins, chosen by student vote. Although the weatherman tried his best to discourage attendance, a fine band and the holiday spirit of the students resulted in a merry time for the subjects of King and Queen Christmas. The Christmas Program on Wednesday afternoon ended the school year of 1964. It included a chorus of songs by the French classes, a play by the Thespians, and several numbers by groups from the Music department. After dismissal, the students happily rushed home, looking forward with joy to seven long days of school-less vacation, gleefully shouting “Merry Christmas” as they dashed out the doors. 20 Upper right—Refreshment Table Lower right—Decorating Christmas tree Upper left—Freshman Madrigals Middle—French Class Lower—Refreshments

Musical Get Up and Go The Music Department presented a musical comedy entitled “ Get Up and Go”, on April 2 and 3, 1964. A boys’ and girls’ school held in the same building doesn’t seem like a too-complicated plot, but the fact that these schools are separated by a locked door does complicate the situation. The plot thickens when the two teachers clash. They are both running their schools in the red but they will not admit it. An uncle, supposedly of one of the girls, comes to the school to help out and proceeds to modernize it. This, plus the fact that the niece of the old maid and the nephew of the old man fall in love and want to get married, leads to confusion. Everything ends well, though, and the two teachers get married. Fine music and two excellent casts made the musical even more interesting. Everyone thoroughly enjoyed the two evenings of humorous entertainment provided by our Music Department. 22 Cast in garden scene Soda Shoppe A Teacher’s Conference
