On Saturday, May 4, 1963, council members gave snappy service at the A.F.S. Dinner in Clara Peterson School. During the week before Christmas, members of the four classes donated money to the fund through the A.F.S. Christmas Tree. A new committee has been appointed in the Student Council to advise A.F.S. students and to suggest activities. The work of the council coupled with that of the community enables us to say “Welcome!” to students from other nations. 19 Richard Furrer with Jim Swanson

A. F. S. Student Richard Furrer Richard Furrer, this year’s A.F.S. student, came to us from Winterthur, Switzerland, in August and before he left us a year later he had made a lasting impression on everyone at Paxton High. We will all remember his pleasant personality, his intellect, his ability to communicate with us—Richard was an able ambassador of his country. In his senior year, Richard took English IV, Speech I, trigonometry, chemistry, and American history. When he returns home, he plans to attend the university at Zurich, Switzerland. From everyone at Paxton High—good luck, Richard! 18
