national honor society Until last year the National Honor Society was strictly an honor organization, with meetings being held only to elect officers, induct new members, and plan the annual banquet. This tradition was broken in 1962, when it was decided to raise money to sponsor a scholarship. Again this year the society set a scholarship as their goal, raising money at basketball games and at a bake sale in April. One regular business meeting was held on the second Friday of each month, and a special program was scheduled for the fourth Friday. Forty-two new members were inducted into the society at a special assembly on February 8. The annual banquet for the members, their parents, and the faculty was held in the spring. The climax of the year’s activities was the awarding of the National Honor Society scholarship on Class Day.
