Newman, Supt. of Schools: Arthur Stevenson. CHARLES NEWMAN This was Mr. Newman’s first year as Superintendent of Paxton Unit School District No. 2. His teaching career began at the age of nineteen. He has held positions as both elementary and high school teacher, coach, principal, and city and unit superintendents. Mr. Newman is known as an excellent public speaker and a man who is nice to have as a friend. THOMPSON SHIELDS Our gratitude to Mr. Shields, our Principal, can hardly be spoken in such a short paragraph. Through his unceasing efforts, Paxton High students have been given the opportunities to go ahead as better citizens in life. —6—
