MUSIC DEPARTMENT The Musrc Department has two prmclpal objectlves Frrst of all thc department rs lnterested rn encouragmg all those who desrre to partrcrpate and who have suffrcnent baslc muslcal skrlls so that the mdrvxdual can emoy at least some success as he partlclpates Thxs objecnve has been largely accompllshed a evxdenced by the fact that 99 students, nearly half of our student body, w1ll compete m some capacrty rn the 1931 dlstrxct muslc contest The second objectrve 18 to develop muslcal skrlls ln each student whnch wlll be sufflclent to rncrease hns mterest and apprecmtlon of musrc of all types so that lelsure trme actxvrtres may mclude musrc ln October l9JO, the musrc department moved mto the new addmon These quarters mclude a band room, a choral room, an mstrument room, a umform room, and four practice rooms The beauty, convemence and ut1l1ty of these new quarters IS near perfect The musrc department tenders smcere thanks and deep apprecmtlon to those generous taxpayers who have made the burldmg posslble The staff lncludes lvlrss Norma Coventry, Mr Harry Swenson, and Mr A lvlcK1nney Th1s group works together to provlde the best posslble musxcal mstructron for the grrls and boys of Paxton The orgamzatuons of the school system mclude four bands and three choral groups lndlvxdual solo work and ensemble playmg are encouraged whenever possrble Class mstrumental mstructron IS furnrshed each student throughout the system free of charge The pracnce rooms are available to all students for use durlng thelr free tlme hr' . . . . . , Q Q QQ .'
