- Ns lg? 1 . 1 9 6 F All Aboard For Brownsville On Nov 23, 1946 while the dawn was just peeping over the horizon and the birds had just begin to chirp their early morning melodies, the Indian football squad loaded on streamline buse- and started a lon!! trip to the magic valley of Texas the destination bein Brownsville and the purpose to play for the Bd Dis rlct football crowr of the Six man Circle The departure from the Pawnee High School had all the color and granduer all the splendor that any famous author would have enjoyed having to write an entire book It was no ordinary bus trip, but a trip that carried the entire Pawnee School to represent the school in clean sports, clean character and everlasting friendshtp The trip to Brownsv lle was an enjoyable and pleasant one We had a short stop in Alice, the hub of South I Texas, and a brief visit in Kinpsville, home of the famous King Ranch this ranch being the largest in the world and having more historical background than anyother will H ever know Arriving in Brownsville about two O'clock the boys unloaded at their headquarters, the Palm Courts. The pep squads rs proceeded on to go South of the Border down Mextco way and dear old Matamorls. In this town, for about two hours the Pawnee girls turned Spanish and practiced the customs and ideas of the gay Senorltas. The shops in Matamoris did a land office business that day because when the girls came back across the sleepy Rio Grande, they carried enough trinkets to put in a Spanish gift shop--beads, pocket books, rings, scarfs, and black market sugar That night at eight blew, found the Pawnee tle powerful feathered School A large crowd fir t play of the game O'clock when the starting whistle Indians ready to do battle with Falcons from Los Fresnos High got their money's worth on the when little Pete Nesloney grabbed a kickoff and raced 7G yards for a touchdown and thus ' initiated Six man football on Tucker's field.
