And what exciting and successful seasons they both proved to be! M.S.M. Conference championship teams in both sports certainly were something special to cheer about. The girls may have had a premonition of Indian glory when they sold spirit buttons proclaiming This is the year of the Indians” early in school year. The cheerleaders also enjoyed success when they were awarded numerous high achievement ribbons at the National Cheerleading Association's summer camp at Vincennes University. 33 M.S.M. A very young squad, they consisted of 8 Sophomores and only 2 Seniors, Libby West and Peggy McWhorter. Injuries and inexperience were prominent factors in their 9-13 won-loss record. Many close battles were fought in which the older and stronger opponents held on to win. Throughout the season, despite the normal disappointments, the team improved. Many lasting friendships resulted, and the girls are looking forward to an even better season next year. At a taco party closing the season, several girls received awards. The classes have a definite order, and unlike the past years, the teachers change rooms every period. This change has gotten each of us interested in class, although the work has been more difficult than in the past. The choice of taking extra classes provides new interests. While study halls are needed by some, other students elect to take band, chorus, or French. The athletic field has many more sports for girls and boys including track, baseball, basketball, softball, and volleyball. The seventh grade has been a good year for the ”Class of 82. Their first as a class, was their float entry Draggin' the Dragons” in the Homecoming parade. Their strong class effort brought them first place. They undertook two money making projects, the larger of which was operating and managing the basketball conces- Danny Edge sions. On the lighter side, many of its members participated in the drama programs and added their bizarre and brilliant wit to the pep assemblies, which everyone enjoyed. Of course, the most memorable and eagerly awaited event was the ordering of clas rings. 75 Lori Law Lori Leskovisck Sandy Loyd Jerry Lyons Sue Maltby Loma Eihridge Party Fedor Paul Ferreira Darrel Fugate Tim Gall Advanced biology began pig dissection second semester. The Class of 78” In late summer of 1976, 55 students entered the halls of P.H.S. as juniors, revved up and ratin' to go for the big year ahead of them. What a year they had! No class can function without leadership, so they elected their officers (pictured at left) as follows: Pres: A. Nerone, V. Pres: D. Henry, Sec: C. Harwood, and Treas: J. Sandstrom. The voice of the people, student council representatives, were: D. Martin, J. McClelland, and D. Mun-dhenke. They found that everything's more fun when done as a class. With Homecoming on the way, the juniors got together and submitted their float entry Bury the Dragons. Their attendants for Homecoming were D. Martin and D. Mundhenke. To raise funds for their Prom, they undertook two money making projects, a successful gas raffle and magazines sale. All too soon, the year was almost at a close. As the time for Prom drew near, those dreams of a beautiful Prom were soon to become a reality. WE NOW LEAVE It's time for another Senior class to move on, and as 1977 has finalized our position to leave, we realize we must say good-bye. Before we attempt to motion ahead, we trace back over all of our school days. So many sunny times filled with happiness, friendship, and laughter are reflected in our minds. P.H.S. has given us a gift of simple and exciting moments and ways that have been loved, but which will now be missed. And with this thought that deeply touches our hearts, the class of 1977 says good-bye to Pawnee High. By Annette Leskovisek VICE-PRESIDENT Jeanette Carlson There is no virtue such as Grace. SECRETARY Kathy Aymer She holds the essential gifts of friendship. David Alexander I can resist everything except temptation. Debbie Beckman An enjoyable fling is usually followed by a painful sting! Gail Duhs True happiness usually adds and multiplies if divided with others. Teresa Dickey I can live without walking, but who can live without talking. Debbie Dutton In every heart where love abides, friendship is a guest. Bob Fanis If I'm not pan of the solution, then I'm probably pan of the problem. Cindy Fischer Friendship is a word that is most likely to succeed. Chris Fenelon We cannot know what the future holds, but we know the One who holds it. 85 Connie Griffin To be loved; means to be loveable. Bob Henry Have more than you show and speak less than you know. Don Grubb The hardest work is being idle. Tom Howerton He who steals my slogan Steals trash! Lisa Pals Believe in yourself and what others think won't matter. Terry McElroy We are shaped and fashioned by what we love. Jodi Murphy It is by doing the very things we fear most, that achieve our greatest victories. Greg Thoele It is a great man who picks himself up after a fall. Our Class 1977 Kathy Warrington Forget yourself and do things for others--those are the things others remember most. Our time we’ve spent as a class May never be regained, Nor the yesterdays for others Be the same. But the laughter we've known And the carefree memories shared Through all of our years. Will forever remain in our hearts With sweet tears. Our future will surmount On the experience and explanation That have formed Reasons and answers, Some unsought of--but needed. And as time comes for our separation, We thank P.H.S. Jett Wells If I didn't have a goal, I might spend the rest of my life never scoring.
