The boys are busy throughout the year with many of their useful projects. A few of these arc selling trouble lights, serving at the F.H.A. banquet, help sponsoring the Sweetheart dance, building better youths, and achieving better farming techniques. Cast year for Cocal J. J-A- 9 Student Council ’71- ’72 The Student Council this year was busy with various activities throughout the year. The officers (pictured below) this year were Mike Smith, Vice-President; Jodi Floyd, Treasurer; Brenda Colean, President; Alicia Sabo, Secretary; and Mrs. Holmes, Sponsor. The Council sponsored the 1971 Homecoming on September 30- October 1, 1971, which began with a bonfire on Thursday night. The parade, the game with the Kincaid Ponies and the dance, featuring the crowning of the 1971 Homecoming Queen, Debbie Vangeison, took place on Friday night. The Council also sponsored a Christmas Dance in December. 10 The members arc pictured in various areas of the Student Lounge. This dream became a reality last year and because of great success has been continued this year. Debbie Vangeison. The Girls’ Athletic Association, organized two years ago, has grown rapidly. The members enjoy a variety of sports activities throughout the school year. The sports ranged from softball, to bowling, to gymnastics, and even hiking. The highlight of the year is the tea. At this time the best athletes of the year in each sport are announced and the new officers are installed. JMJ- Hosts Section Rally The F.H.A. was the hostess for the annual fall F.H.A.-H.E.R.O. Rally, “Youth Reaches Out.” The rally included twenty-nine schools with about five hundred students, advisors, and chapter mothers participating. The main highlights were a speaker from Sangamon State University, entertainment by the Girls’ Ensemble of Pawnee High School, and a Section 13 business meeting.
