On April 17, 1968 eleven students were honored at the Eighth Annual Academic Banquet sponsored by the Lions Club. This select group is named each year following the fourth grading period. In order to be named as an honor student the boy or girl must maintain a 4.5 average for the first semester and the fourth grading period. Students who attend this banquet for the first time are given an honor student pin. Each year that they return a numeral pin guard is presented to be attached to the pin. YEARBOOK TAKES ON A NEW LOOK Nancy Tilley (Co-editor), Mrs. Ruth Harms (Sponsor), Linda White (Editor) The 1969 Yearbook Staff has tried to present this year's annual in a way you will always remember. We have added the Spring Supplement to bring you a more complete coverage of the spring school activities. The grade school section of the yearbook has been added to give you a complete coverage of the 7th and 8th grade activities. The book is financed through yearbook sales, advertisements, and school cushion sales. We wish to thank all the people who have helped with our yearbook. We hope you will enjoy this yearbook as much as we have enjoyed working on it. 21

The problem of what to do with study hall time was solved beautifully by eight seniors who volunteered to tutor grade school pupils with reading difficulties. The students meet with the children regularly from 2 to 5 times weekly and help them with oral reading, spelling and other language arts skills. A weekly seminar is held with Mrs. Nichols to discuss educational methods, materials, innovations, and special problems encountered in teaching. Top Row: Mrs. Nichols, Marilyn Williams, Susan Oliver, Nancy Tilley, John Teubner, Candee Floyd, Barb Fogel. Second Row; Mickey Thorpe, David Bell, Mark W'ahlsmith.
