Just as Pawnee High is not just beautiful, not just 163 students and 18 teachers, not just victorious athletic teams, talented musical groups- but the essence, the vitality, the warmth, the intangible, living heart of all these-- so a yearbook is like a magic mirror, capturing, holding, and reflecting forevever the vibrant force and personality which was our school year. A yearbook is people----------and people are laughter, tears, cheers, taunts, quicksilver dreams, cynicism which seeks solitude to cry, studies, goofing-off. People----- people growing up-----but growing hurts! And a yearbook is events----proms, music, dates and lack of dates. Basketball games won and celebrated, basketball games lost with tired Senior players walking silently together for a last look at the lengthening shadows on a now-empty gymnasium, turning quickly away with unbidden tears. A yearbook is life--and a year of life-a year lived---a year now gone------------ and the promise of all the years that are to come. ddMUUAtMXiQit fidnUAUtMtWfl Mr. William Allen Superintendent Mr. Jesse Harkness Principal Mr. Axel Sandstrom Assistant Principal Guidance Counselor School 'Bowl m Mr. David Dickey, Pres., Mr. Myron Vangeison, Sec.-Treas., Mr. William Floyd, Mr. Homer King, Mr. Kenneth Wright, Mr. George Davis, Mr. Fred Muncy, (Not Pictured). They are on the threshold of their future success or failure-success, if they prepare for life now; failure if they don't. Now is the time when they must broaden their horizons, cultivate their interests, and seriously ponder their role in life. Sopkomm The Sophomores are midway in their journey through high school; happy not to be called fresh-ies anymore. They are looking forward hopefully to becoming upperclassmen, creating new prom themes, ordering their class rings, and comprising the best Junior class P. H. We look around and ask—where did it go? We worked, we played— but for four years? Then we look the other way—into tomorrow. Suddenly we're not so tall as we thought we were and not so smart. But we find that somehow we learned a decisive lesson at P.H.S. Something we wouldn't have had without the teachers and our parents, without God or religion—a direction into that uncertain tomorrow. It can never be so dark again though the world may change and the times change and we change.
