We will never forget Joe, our classmate, who was a real friend. We hope this book will keep alive his memory for others. Young though we were when we entered these memorable halls, we have found many precious things; friendship, knowledge, and happi- ness. We worked, we learned, we loved and we lived. We were challenged by our teachers, parents; and we shall continue to be challenged as we pass through these doors to begin the new life that lies beyond. We shall remember the understanding and guidance given to us by our teachers. Although we may be separated, our memories of P.H.S. will linger on forever. School Board SEATED: HARLAN McTAGGART, Sec. We were new and a new life opened up to us. Some of us were to become leaders, some followers, we began the true basis of our future lives. Our officers were: President-Lucille Jenkins; Vice-President-Linda Parker; Secretary -Karen Popovich; Treasure-Tom Warrington. Our second year was better than the first. We knew the ropes and what was to be expected of us. We also realized there was a long road ahead of us. We knew that our education was first, but we still had pleanty of time for other things. Our officers were: President-John Murphy; Vice-President-Mark Brady; Secretary-Bonnie Davis; Treasure-Tom Warrington; Student Council Representative-Ann Cashen. Our Junior year was our busiest year. We presented our class play, The Whole Towns Laughing directed by Mr. Lewis. Being Juniors meant the Prom was up to us. Younger Than Springtime was the theme of our Prom. Mrs. Palmer assisted us on the Prom, and Mrs. Welch helped with our banquet. When we were not busy with other things we had a candy concession. Our officers were: President-Lucille Jenkins; Vice-President-Jack Nichols; Secretary-Bonnie Davis; Treasure-Ann Cashen; Student Council Representative-Karen Popovich. The Senior year seemed to be filled with mixed emotions. Some of us are happy we are leaving and others will be reluctant. We entered high school with high hopes and maybe even a few fears. We hope the education we gained will help us with our future. The memories we have collected will remain with us always. Our officers were: President-Jack Nichols; Vice-President-Judy Clark; Secretary-Karen Popovich; Treasure-Tom Warrington; Student Council Representative-Bonnie Davis. Even though both of the teams were com posed solely of underclassmen and juniors, the battle cry of the whole school was the same--V-I-C-T-0-R-Y! The team with the help of the cheerleaders and faithful cheering section did much to further the good reputation of the PHS, our Alma Mater. We’ll always remain loyal to you and we are all looking forward to the following seasons! Good Luck! Each year at the Sangamon County Basketball Tourney, a cheerleading trophy is awarded to the cheerleaders and cheering section displaying the best sportsmanship. This sportsmanship is based on the cheerleaders appearance; their school spirit; their attitude toward their team and their opponents; the pep club’s school spirit. This year, we are proud at PHS to have our pep club win the cheering trophy. Betty Crocker Award Ann C ashen As you are leafing through and reading this book, it is the day we have all been waiting for. The yearbook staff is waiting to see how the book looks all put together in print instead of just sketched out in layouts. The student body is waiting to see themselves and their classmates smiling up from the pages. We've tried to include as many of the things as possible that will be most interesting to you in your future years. The Indian Echoes, our memory book, is the reminder of all the happy, sad. encouraging, and disappointing times of the school year 1962-1963. We hope in years to come, these snapshots, wills, etc., will call back to mind the greatest times of all hi-school days at dear ole P.H.S. We hope that you, the main characters who star in this book, will find in it as many good things and pleasures as we who worked on it. Now, it belongs to you with our fond good-byes. We would like to thank the yearbook staff, and especially Mrs. Edmundson, who gave their time and efforts to produce our masterpiece --INDIAN ECHOES.
