mu nil! Hill IHH Hill IHH Hill III min ECHOES 1956 PAWNEE COMMUNITY HIGH SCHOOL VOLUME XII As we look out into the World, we see many new hopes and new dreams. We realize, that soon, we are to leave Pawnee High School. It is now the time for our yearbook. We hope that you will enjoy it as much as we enjoyed giving it to you. May many happy memories come to those who leaf through the pages of this book. May our work not be in vain. We give to you our book .... The 1956 Indian Echoes EDITOR'S As editor of this year's INDIAN ECHOES, I would like to take this opportunity to express my deepest gratitude to all those on the Staff and our Advisor, who have helped make this yearbook possible. Although it was the first time any of us have ever worked on a yearbook of this type we hope you will be as proud of it as we are. As you thumb through the pages of this book, try to recollect the many happy memories of those eventful hi-school days, and the people who made them possible. SHARRON POPOVICH EDITOR DEDICATION We, the Seniors of Pawnee High School dedicate this yearbook to the memory of Curt Hoppin. Poets the world over have professed a belief that the written word makes a man’s name immortal. It is our hope that this little book will preserve the fond admiration that we have for Mr. Hoppin for the students of the future. At the same time history tells us that a man’s memory is best preserved by his deeds. We all recognize that a man who has so unselfishly served his community and so tirelessly given of his time and talent to the educational benefits of its young citizens needs no glowing testimony of his worth. We ask the privilege to dedicate the product of our own efforts, the story of our school days to the man who dedicated so much of himself to us. SUPERINTENDENT S MESSAGE To the graduates of 1956 my sincere wish for you is happiness. Not the joyous, funmaking hilarious kind, but the happiness that comes from a work or service beneficial to your fellowman. According to John Ruskin, The highest reward for man's toil is not what he gets for it but what he becomes by it . At times it seems we have three kinds of people in our world of today: the small number who makes things happen; the many who watch things happen and then there are those who have no idea what has happened. With the training and experiences during your four years at Pawnee High School I feel each of you are qualified to accept responsibility and capable of making decisions which will promote and continue our American way of life.
