BRETT ALAN POTEET The loss of a child is one of life’s greatest sorrows. When it is someone of the quality of Brett, it is a real tragedy for the entire community. Brett was a child of exceptional warmth and wisdom, and his loss leaves a void in all our lives that will not be readily filled. For us who are left, he will continue to live in our memories and our hearts. JANIE POTEET An educator of the quality of Janie Poteet holds a very special position in society, and all the amassed superlatives that literature has used to describe outstanding educators could very easily be put together for a vivid description of Janie Poteet. Intelligent, dedicated, caring, supportive, courageous — these are adjectives that could be synonymous with Janie, and yet, they are more than words — they are the virtues that Janie lived each and every day. Our lives shall be emptier for her absence, because they were made fuller by her presence. 10
