Shown here are some of the Home Economics and Shop class during the one week of an exchange unit. Our superintendent, Mr. Ronald K. Wenninghoff has a B.S. and M.S. from Peru State Teachers College. He has done undergraduate and graduate work from the University of Nebraska. This is his first year here. He is co-sponsor of the Senior class. Mr. Norman Frerichs received his B.S. from Peru State Teachers College and his M.E. from the University of Nebraska. He teaches mathematics and serves as principal. He is sponsor of the Student Council and co-sponsor of the Junior class. Mrs. Georgia Martin is our office secretary. She has numerous duties— filing, typing, telephoning, and many more during her day. She attended the Lincoln School of Commerce, and has worked here at P.C.H.S. for four and one-half years. Mr. Bruce Smith attended Iowa State Uni- versity and received his B.S. from Peru State Teachers College. He has done additional study at the University of Nebraska. He is the high school counselor and teaches Junior High English. He is the golf coach, and co-sponsor of the Senior class. Mrs. Catherine Johnson received her B.S. from Peru State Teachers College. This is her first year here. She teaches Sophomore and Senior English. She is co-sponsor of the Sophomore class. She was sponsor of the senior play ’’Rest Assured”. Mrs. Daisymae Eckman teaches Voca- tional Homemaking 9, 10-11, and 12. She has a B.A. and has attended the University of Nebraska and the Nebraska State Teachers College at Peru. She is advisor of the Future Homemakers of America and also co-sponsor of the Junior Class. This is her ninth year at P.C.H.S. Our German teacher, Mrs. Wilma Stevens, teaches German I, II, and in grades 4, 5, 6, 7, and is also head librarian. She has an A.B. from Peru State Teacher’s College and has attended Phillips University at Endid, Oklahoma, and the University of Washington at Seattle. This is her seventh year here and she is co-sponsor of the Senior class. Mr. James Happel teaches typing, shorthand, office practice, and book- keeping. He attended the University of Omaha and Midland College where he received his B.S. He is advisor of the ’’Smoke Signals” and co-sponsor of the Sophomore class. This is his first year at P.C.H.S. Mr. Jack Johnson is head basketball coach and assistant football and track coach. He also teaches biology and driver training. He received his B.S. Degree from Peru State Teachers College. This is his first year with us. Mr. Keith Hawxby teaches chemistry, general science, and geometry. He received his B.S. Degree from Peru State Teachers College and has done additional study at Kansas University and the University of Nebraska. He is co-sponsor of the Junior class. This is his first year here. — - This is Mr. Clyde Volz’s third year at P.C.H.S. He teaches social studies. He is head football and track coach and assistant basketball coach. He has a B.A. from Doane College. He also sponsored the PC Club. Mr. H. Arthur Schrepel has the honor of being the high school teacher who has been with us the longest—33 years. He attended the University of Nebraska and North- western University and has an A.B. Degree. Mr. Schrepel is the band director and also gives private instrumental lessons as well as serving as sponsor of the band and its various groups. Mrs. Edna Richardson teaches Junior High math and art. She has a B.A. and attended the University of Nebraska and also the Nebraska State Teachers College at Peru. Mrs. Richardson has been with us for seventeen years. Mrs. Clarice McCoy teaches vocal music and social studies. She also sponsored the Pep Club. She received her B.M.E. Degree from the University of Nebraska. This is her first year here. Mr. Gerald Bredthauer at- tended Elgin Community College and Northern Illinois University, where he received his B.S. Degree. He teaches Fresh- man and Junior English. This is his first year with us. He also sponsored the Freshman class. Mr. Ronald Ganzel teaches classes in Vocational Ag- riculture 9, 10-11, and 12. He is also in charge of a general shop class. He has a B.S. and Master’s Degree from the University of Nebraska. He has attended Nebraska Wesleyan, Doane College, the University of Iowa, and the University of Nebraska. He is sponsor of the Future Farmer’s of America and has been here thirteen years. Mr. Richard Reed teaches Junior High Social Studies and Science. He went to Tarkio College, Missouri, where he received his B.S. Degree. This is Mr. Reed’s second year here. Each of the three lower classes elect two members as their representatives on the Student Council. The Senior Class elects three members as their representatives. The Student Council meets once a week with their sponsor to promote those things that tend to maintain, improve, and advance scholarship and the spysical and moral welfare of the students of Pawnee City High School. The Student Council sponsors the annual Carnival, eighth grade day for the rural students in this county and selects the Lyceums and other programs presented to the student body. They led the band in all marching appearances. For the 30th consecutive year, the band again won a superior rating at district music contest. At the right is the football band, which prepared a half-time show for each home game, and played one downtown pep rally. PCHS is indeed proud of all phases of its band.
