Jim Thompson-Left tackle, played well both on offense and defense. Helped greatly by keeping up the team spirit. Larry Anderson--Right end,worked hard on defense and helped on the scoring end of offense. Received honorable mention by the southeast border conference. Kent Olson--Left end, worked hard on defense and was a great help on the offense. Worked hard to keep up team spirit. PAWNEE CITY 22 -- WEEPING WATER 0 Springing back the next week, the Indians started a four game winning streak by downing Weeping Water. Joe Allison was the high scorer with 12 points. PAWNEE CITY 13 -- TECUMSEH 0 It was a mighty happy tribe ofwarriors who rallied Tecumseh for the first time in a decade. Crawford and Anderson each had 6 points in the game. PAWNEE CITY 32 -- LOUISVILLE 27 The team, determined to keep up their winning streak, came back from a 27-13 deficit at half time in the Louisville game to turn the tide for a thrilling 32-27 win. Anderson scored 12 points for high honors. Denny McDoug1e sweeping around end. PAWNEE CITY 26 -- HUMBOLDT 0 The following week the team dealt Humboldt its 19th straight loss in a one-sided contest. Joe Allison came through with 14 points. PAWNEE CITY 19 -- SUPERIOR 27 From here, the Indians entered a losing streak, which lasted till the end of the gridiron season. Superior, fired up for their homecoming game, were hard hitters, and the Pawnee team found it almost impossible to hold their own. It Wasn't until the last quarter that in a final effort the team scored 19 points to show their never-ending persistence. PAWNEE CITY 12 -- SYRACUSE 13 Pawnee was edged in the closing seconds of the next game in the heartbreaker of the year for a Syracuse win. Pawnee fought hard all the way and was deep in Syracuse territory almost the entire game except for the closing minutes. PAWNEE CITY 6 -- WYMORE 26 Wymore dealt Pawnee its third straight loss. Wymore led 20-0 at half, but Pawnee came along to hold their own with even scoring in the second half 6-6. PAWNEE CITY 13 -- FALLS CITY SACRED HEART 14 The warriors fought hard all the way in their homecoming and last game of the season against Falls City Sacred Heart, but came out on the short end by a single point. Allison's block Qrightj may not help Crawford on this play. 52 Indians Rumble With Faculty The Pawnee Indians beat the Pawnee City faculty in the opening game of the season. The faculty had all the height with Mr. Smith, Mr. Banks, and Mr. King but they just could not seem to keep up with the hustling varsity. Pawnee City Skims Over Tecumseh Bill Mawhiney scored 2 points to tie the score with 18 seconds left to play and went on to collect 16 points in the last 11 minutes of play to lead Pawnee to an exciting over- time victory. Pawnee City Trounces Wilber The Allison cousins lead the Pawnee team to victory over Wilber. The Indians were behind by 1 point at the end of the first quarter of play, but led for the remainder of the game. Pawnee Downs Lewiston The Indians ripped through the Lewiston Tigers with three of the team members scoring in the double figures. This gave Pawnee a 3-2 record going into the Christmas holidays. Tom Allison is all to himself while Bill Mawhiney and Max Martin look on. Kent Olson shoots over an Auburn player while Max Martin maneuvers for rebound. Pawnee Beats Humboldt The Indians fought an all-out battle against Humboldt that saw three boys leave the game on fouls. The team won by a large margin of 25 points with four of the Indians scoring in the double figures. Indians Defeat Johnson The tribe returned from a 9 point defect at the half to score 23 points in each of the remaining two quarters and turn the tide on the Eagles. Four Indians scored in the double figures. Indians Break Past Louisville The tribe not seeming quite up to par, only managed to squeeze past the Louisville five. The Indians were only leading by one point with a minute to play when Ron Crawford and Kent Olson each scored a free throw to give Pawnee a three point cushion with 20 seconds of play remaining. Pawnee Wins Over Alvo-Eagle The Indians repeated their last game by skimming past Alvo- Eagle in another exciting contest. The score remained close the entire second half.
