Cfaai c7,7ZL1fo my We the Senior Class of 47 started our Paw huska hlgh school careers as every other class However m order not to alarm you readers we assure you we have not ended as other classes The first few weeks as freshmen we spent out tlme quite meekly tryxng to accustom ourselves to new surrotndlngs We soon orgamzed however and under the guidance of Mrs Mayme Myers Mrs Emlly Carver and Wllbur Doty class sponsors we elected Roger Carter president Devotlng ourselves to our studies we gave llttle attentlon to actlvltles wlth the exceptron of wmnmg the Band Queen contest That we put over 1n a blg way making our nommee Marylen MtKenzxe Queen Our Sophomore year was one of peace and 1n dlfference We accompllshed very llttle aslde from becommg ambltlous for an educatlon for educatlon s sake We made Don Van Zandt our presxdent Our spon ors were Wllma Shaw Jack Frazler and Alta Mae Heard Our Junlor year was a very llvely and busy txme lor all of us As presldent we had that darlng as sponsors Anna Scaeber Bertha Wagner and Lewxs Bean We managed the concesslon stands to be able to contrlbute an lmpresswe memorlal to the school We produced the hllarlous comedy Lome Ram or Shine coached by Mlss Schaeber The play not only added greatly to the fmances of the class but afforded much fun In May we spon sored a gala junior semor barbecue at the Country Club On thls festlve occ-aslon we played games swam danced and had all the good food we could eat We were rather hesltant to check th1s year to the past yet we were eager to be the top handed senlors As September rolled around we entered old PHS with gleeful hearts We were at last Semors and leading examples for all underclassmen In our first class meetmg wlth our sponsors G B Hatchett and Jeanne King we elected Bxll Joe Labadle presldent Slnce Bill completed hls requxrements the hrst semes ter and left school in the middle of January we promoted Vice-presldent Lawrence Llvely to the of fice of presldent for the second semester Before the close of school in May 46 we voted to use our money to buy new curtams for the stage In the late summer beautlful mulberry drapes were hung to replace the royal blue ones contributed by the Class of 27 10' We have had another full busy year supporting the Huskles xn football and basketball puttmg out the Chopa sponsoring the 1947 Wah She She An nual and ploducmg the annual play And Came the Sprxng dxrected by MISS King We feel that we gave to the school and to the c1t1zens of Pawhuska a play that challenged our best efforts Of the slxty two members of class twenty three entered the Pawhuska schools ln the prlmary These students are Roger Carter Raymond Elias John Fm cannon Ed German B1ll Greggs Herbert Hyde Chf ford Rxchey Don Sponsler Berry Sturgell Joan Bookout Sarah Black Jo Hackleman Alma Harrls Bernrce Holden Mary Humphrey Ida Lee Lemon Jmnle McGuire Marylen McKenz1e Naomi Murray Joanne Stuart Pat Ward Mary Evertson and Kath erme Poulos Emghteen members entered as freshmen Thls group rs composed of Bob Bowman George Derrlck B111 Endsley John Galvln Stan Labadle Ralph Scrogglns Don Van 7andt Dale Webb George Malas ke LOIS Alred Laverne Atterberry Geneva Caldwell Blllle Garrlson Ella Green Margle Muller Pat Payne Betty Pollard Lawrence Lively George Standlngbear had h1s freshman Jumor and semor years 1n PHS with hls sophomore year at Oklahoma Mllitary Academy Claremore Havmg attended Skxatook hugh school untxl he left for the Other members of the class whose attendance has been mterrupted because of the war are Ted Brunt Ted Fox Preston Landrum and John Bllyeu The remalnlng fourteen members have had from one to three vears m hlgh school These students are Stan Farrell Don Hollmgshead Charles Mr-Cord Dale Parker Al Tayrlen Dan Yarbrough Jxmmle Ann Barton Joan Boynton Beth Brunger Vxrgima Berkxhxser Evelyn Franklm Betty LeForce Betty Neptune and Rose Spangler Six members Marylen McKenz1e Jo Hackleman Mary Humphrey Jlnnle McGu1re Jlmmie Anne Bar ton and Roger Carter were recently named mem bers of the State Honor Socxety This achlevement was based an scholarshlp leadership cltlzenship and co-operatxon As commencement wlth all of 1ts mterests nears our vislon of what it would be hke is becommg more real Our hlgh school days will soon be over and we who have had so many enjoyable txmes together will be scattered some to college and some to bus1 ness and professxonal careers but regardless of what the future may hold we shall always remember and Jalue PHS our hxgh school alma mater D- I 9 V' 4' tittauuum-. f f lb 6 . , f 1 , . . . , 1 1 1 1 ' ' 1 ' y , .
