Three of these people attended a week long seminar on yearbook planning and production. This year's staff has spent many long hours under the WHIP of Miss Acuna, the advisor. The class chose the theme Tiki Mona Kai” which was carried out by the Polynesian atmosphere of the restaurant. Would you give me the pleasure of this dance Jeff? Paw Paw's conference record was 1 win, 6 losses. The spirit was high among team members and their willingness to compete made them one of PPHS's better sport squads. 86 Athletics GOLFERS WOLE our IN 2ND PLACE Coach St. Aubin, K. Smith, C. Zolp, K. Rennhack, J. Mead, S. Morris. MISSING: C. Herring, S. Racette, S. LaPine, J. Millek. Paw Paw's fine golf team came in a close second in Wolverine Conference competition this fall. Their conference season record was 6 wins and 1 loss. Paw Paw also came in second in the Conference Tournament. During the course of the season, Paw Paw set a new school record for 9 holes with a score of 154. Perhaps an advantage for this year’s squad was die changing of golf from a spring to a fall sport, giving the golfers a better advantage in competition. Once again, Mr. St. Aubin put forth his knowledgeable talent in golf, coaching this year's squad to the runnerup position. Next year's squad is shooting for Number One in the Wolverine Conference. The Redskins' showing in certain periods of the game was good. Although Paw Paw lost, their defense attack held back Lakers' offense. A possible reason for the loss was having to adapt to two new quarterbacks, Tom Labadie and Terry Collins. 88 Athletics In this first game Paw Paw had to use a platoon system because of the loss of Rick Dunlop. The final score of this game was PAW PAW 0 -LMC 21. In the conference opener, Paw Paw shocked the predictions by tying the Otsego team. Paw Paw's defense came to the front in this game, holding back Otsego's untested offense. The results of this game were PAW PAW 6 -OTSEGO 6. On Oct. 1 Paw Paw traveled to Comstock in another confer-ence game. Comstock scored the first TD in the second quarter and the teams left die field at half time, the score 6-0 Comstock. The third period was scoreless but in die final period both teams opened up. Paw Paw scored two TD's while Comstock scored three. The game ended Paw Paw 12 -Comstock 22. A thletics 89 PAW PAW’S DEFENSE CAMBIO Tf- E FPX3NT .,. again as they held off the Plainwell Trojans. The score, PAW PAW 7 - PLAINWELL 30, doesn't reflect our fine showing. As Plainwell herded in its second stringers, Paw Paw had to rely on men that started the game, due to the lack of manpower. Paw Paw led until die fourth quarter when the Trojans broke through our exhausted defense. Fired up for Homecoming, the Redskins went into the Vicksburg - Paw Paw collision head-on. Paw Paw finally found their offensive power and used it to good advantage by tallying five TD's and a two-point conversion. Paw Paw received many fine individual performances; on offensive by Terry Collins, Lee Bare, Randy Johnson, and Jim Stefoff and Rick Brill. Our wild Homecoming game ended in victory for the Redskins with a score of Paw Paw 32, Vicksburg 6. In a cloudy game (it was foggy that night) Paw Paw gave the South Haven Rams a rough time. The Rams picked off two of Paw Paw's passes and scored. They led 12-0 as the teams went to die dressing rooms at half time. A fired-up Redskin squad returned to the field, stopping a long Ram drive. 90 Athletics They returned the ball to the Ram 4-yard line. In the next period the teams exchanged TD's and ended the game with a score of PAW PAW 14 - SOUTH HAVEN 18. At Dad’s Night, Three RiverS scored first, but Paw Paw followed with 32 consecutive points. In die fourth period the player depth of Three Rivers began to show on the tired Redskins as Three Rivers raced back within 8 points. The final score was PAW PAW 32 - THREE RIVERS 24. With a PAW PAW 0 -ALLEGAN 28 score, Paw Paw ended their season. Lack of scoring punch and a leaky pass defense spelled out defeat for the Redskins.
