BOARD OF EDUCATION STANDING: Luther Dairies, treasurer; Edward Sitar, trustee; Paul Kaiser, trustee; Dan McConnell, superintendent; SITTING: Fred Pugsley, trustee; Robert Abrams, secretary; William Cutting, president; Jane Kimmel, trustee and newest member of the board. The Paw Paw Board of Education consists of elected members representing the state and the community in the operation of the school system. They are the operating body of the school whose authority comes from the State of Michigan. Members of the Paw Paw Board of Education are unique in variety of occupations. Jobs range from Superintendent of Schools to farmer to housewife. An attorney, a businessman and a highway engineer fill out the board. Members donate what would be leisure time to work on the board. During the school year the board proposed a merger of the Law-ton, Mattawan and Paw Paw school systems. They also proposed a $2,600,000 building program and were involved in negotiations with the Paw Paw Education Association. 6

SUPERINTENDENT dan McConnell Mr. McConnell, who served at the Bay Port and Edwardsburg Schools Systems, has served as Superintendent of the Paw Paw School system for two years. Mr. McConnell, attended Central Michigan University, Western Michigan University and Columbia University. He holds B. S., M. A., and Ed. S. degrees. As a class-room instructor, Mr. McConnell taught geography and speech. Mr. McConnell, assisting the secretaries. Mr. McConnell, at his desk 7
