Our Senior year was highlighted when NANCY was chosen as our Homecoming Queen and thus she set the stage for a year of memorable events. LARRY ANTHONY participated in a new tradition, our first wrestling team. While the snow flakes were piling up in the greatest snowstorm in history, perhaps DIANA BRAGANINI was wishing she was back studying in Mexico, or KATHY BABIN was chatting about her political endeavors at Girls' State, or maybe CAROL BONARSKI 22 TAKE was thinking up captions for Wappaw pages. We were glad to have LINDA BAXTER join us in our Senior year as well as CURTIS BERGLIN in LINDA BAXTER BILL BIGELOW CURTIS BERGLIN our Junior year. Joni won't have grey hair for a few years yet, but as editor of the yearbook, she certainly had plenty of opportunities. This year the Reserve and Varsity Cheerleaders have been responsible for most of the assemblies and dances. They are always prepared to cheer under any circumstances. This was proved at the home-Com-stock game where they cheered on top of snow mounds 5 feet high. Kathy Babin, Skip LeRoy, Sheryl Daines. and Nancy Treat are Seniors. Pat Riets and Rae Ann Markovich are the Juniors on the squad. Sports involve the keen competition and the active participation of the spectators. A touchdown, a basket, or a base hit amid a bedlam of cheers, spark our days. Athletics and spectators are as old as community life itself. This holds true in Paw Paw. During the 1966-1967 season of sports, the Redskins had many a touchdown, basket, and base hit backed enthusiastically by an excited crowd. Our team relaxing,.. This year a Wrestling team was organized for the first time in the history of Paw Paw High School. The new team did not have a winning season, but a lot of fine effort was put into the sport by the boys and by the coach. Jim Strong who wrestled in the 145 pound class gave the team its very first pin. A pin is scored when a wrestler has his opponent’s shoulders within an inch of the mat for three seconds. A wrestler may win a decision on total points gained from take-downs, escapes, reversals and a near fall. Next year’s team should show improvement thanks to experience. WRESTLING TAKES HOLD IN PAW PAW Dick Millet takes control. Victorious Larry Anthony receives enthusi asm from fellow wrestlers.
