Bill Markovich Halfback Jerry Masten Richard Prawat Guard Halfback f I John Walton Fullback Co-Captain John Schincariol Tackle The Paw Paw Redskins opened their 1961 football season by downing the Mattawan Wildcats 19-0. Cliff Essig and Rich Prawat scored on runs of 68 and 70 yards respectively; Bill McGuaghey also scored on a 30 yard pass play from Fred Emmert. In the Skin’s first Wolverine League game they were swamped by Otsego 32-7. Richard Prawat scored the Big Red's lone touchdown on an 18 yard pass from Fred Emmert. To add to the Skin's miseries Bill McGaughey, Redskin starting halfback, suffered a broken foot. The Redskins second league loss came at the hands of the powerful Plainwell Trojans. The Reds held the Trojans to a 6-0 lead but then faltered and the final score was 26-0. Despite a comeback by the Redskins, the Vicksburg Bulldogs merged the victors 26-19. Fred Emmert tossed an 18 yard pass to Richard Warm -bold and Cliff Essig raced 61 and 28 yards for the Redskin Touchdowns. Clarence Stimac A1 Brockway Halfback Fullback

J STUDENT COUNCIL This year the Student Council members include three representatives from the Freshman, Sophomore, Junior and Senior classes; the president of each class and the officers. Mr. Martin, Principal, and Mr. VanVoorhees, Guidance Counselor, served as advisors. This is the first year the Freshman class has been represented in the Senior High Student Council. The Student Council has worked to serve our school. They have sponsored dances, formed the Snack Bar to raise money for the Foreign Exchange Program, and have worked on many other projects. Student Council officers are from L. TO R. Jonieta Pierce, Recording Secretary; Paula Harrison, Vice President; Mary Sue Crosby, President; and Lynne McGuire, Corresponding Secretary, Treasurer. 13

Charles Burger Cliff Essig Center Halfback Dean Corrie Guard Paw Paw spoiled Allegan's Homecoming and also gained their first Wolverine League victory by downing Allegan 19-13. Halfback Cliff Essig scored on two runs of 32 and 8 yards in the first five minutes of play to give the Skins a good lead. Fred Emmert, playing a beautiful offensive and defensive game, passed to Doug Falan for the Skins last touchdown. Against non-league foe Galesburg, the Redskins were downed by a 20-6 score. Paw Paw's lone score came on a 78 yard pass play between Fred Emmert and Cliff Essig. Penaltyand fumbles hurt the Skins throughout the game as they were inside the Rams ten yard line three times but penalties and fumbles erased their chance to score. In Paw Paw's final two Wolverine League games they were defeated by South Haven and U-High. The scores were 45-0 and 32-6 respectively.
