The Citizen of the Year is selected by the Student Council from the Nine Citizens of the months, who were elected by the Student Council from candidates nominated by the c asses. He participated in many activities in his school years. Among them were basketball, baseball, newspaper and year book staff, and Senior Play. Honors he re- ceived included honor club, President of the Varsity Club, and a Representative at Boy's State. The Citizen of the Year Award comes as a crowning honor to one who gave faith- ful and devoted service to Paw Paw High School-'Johnny Zi1er'.

The original members include Sara Kay Youngblood, Dorothy Cross, Theodore Evans, Sue Gordon, Judy McDonald, Vivian Hamilton, Judy Hockman, and Wanda Alkire. The Paw Paw chapter of the National Honor Society was named the Mary Largent Chapter, honoring a former teacher, Miss Mary Largent. Requirements for membership in the National Honor Society are an 85 average for the four years in high school and also five other honor points.
