GUR ADVENTURE kVlicwl kVhat an advcnturel lwche glorious years of fun, frolic and play mingled with study. concentration, and a burning ambition to succeed. But, at last, our desti- nation is in sight. ln the near distance, the lights glow. VVe can distinguish the sign- CILXIJLlA'l'ION. kVith renewed vigor, we have begun our last years study, and soon a very important phase of our life will have passed. As we do at the completion of any great accomplishment, let us reminisce about the joys and pleasures of our past twelve years and also think a moment of the hard- ships which we have encountered and safely overcome. Armed with hooks and pencils for weapons, and with happiness in our hearts, we set forth on an early September morning to learn more about the reading, writing. and arithmetic which we had heard about from our elders. hir. Barnette was our leader and he was iiiaca by assistants called teachers. . Our vacations and holidays were days of pleasure, but we were eager to again take up our weapons and advance further into the realm of study. For six years we traveled ahead, and at the end of that time we were beginning to feel like experienced scholars, for we had mastered the fundamentals of our trade. At the beginning of the seventh year, our leader, hlr. llarnette, left us, and his place was taken by hh: S. A. hlcllullie, who has been a very capable leader, and one who shared our successes and enabled us to overcome our obstacles. Also along the way we have lost some of our charter members. 'lihese have been replaced by willing and ambitious adventurers4Sue Keever, formerly of Herryhill, Betty Lewis of Tech, Stokes Seegars of Oakhurst, Carolyn Thompson of Berryhill, Guinevere Barefoot of Belmont, Peggie 'liyler of llarding, and Audrey llolt of Albemarle. At the end of eight years of advancement, we began to look forward to bigger prey-- English, llistory, Algebra, Chemistry, French, Ceometry, Bookkeeping, Shorthand, and Typing. Looking back, we think of the joyful anticipation of the -lunior-Senior Banquet during our eleventh. This was our farewell token to the members of the twelfth grade. 'lihe day we selected our rings was a happy day indeed, and now we are eagerly awaiting their arrival, Our many extracurricular activities will always be remembered-basketball, Glee Club, Beta Club, French Club, and especially the senior play. 1 Since that first day we started our adventure, the time has passed quickly. 'lihe years ahead may be diflicult ones, but we can hope with all our hearts that the rest of our years will bring the happiness and joy of our last twelve years at P.C.l l.S.
