PROPI-IECY In the spring of 1957 I made my first trip to the World's Fair which was being held in San Francisco, California. By some quirk of fate, all the Paw Creek class of '47 were there. We spent several hours talking over high school days, and we finally compiled the following information: Dolores Lippard is now a successful Powers model. Carl Saine and Fred Smith are radio comedians and are quite well known. Ray Plummer and Delcenia Payseur write their scripts. I Mary Wood is chief illustrator for the leading fashion magazines, Vogue and Mademoiselle. Caroleen Elliotte is her assistant. Doris Featherstone has become a lawyer and hasn't lost a case yet. Ruth Hogan is her secretary. Willis Cox is now editor-in-chief of the New York Times, with Earl Nantz as his sports writer. Virginia Mitchell is his fashion editor and Charles Elliott is a foreign correspondent on the same newspaper. Ruth Clarke and Hazel Burgess are now airline hostesses for Eastern Air Lines. Two of their frequent passengers are Lizette Lewis, who is a noted missionary, and Margie Ree Davis, who has acquired great fame as a ballerina. William Auten is the owner of a huge dairy farm in Alabama. Billy Hipp is his foreman. Frank Clark is a traveling salesman for a leading shoe manufacturer. ' ' Evelyn Skipper is dean of history at Duke University. Janet Bryant is in charge of the commercial department there. Evelyn Alexander and Jean Flowers are successful playivrights. Virginia Houser is starred in their latest. Betty Barnhardt has just won the Miss America title for 1956. Betty Broome and Louise Cline are private secretaries in a large New York law firm. Pete Whisenant and Carl Lawing are athletic coaches at West Point. Ona Lee Johnson and Sarah Clark are the owners of a very exclusive dress shop in San Francisco. We hear that all the big-name movie stars buy their clothes there. Leon Randall and Irene Hipp, who now speak French quite fluently, have become interpreters for foreign tourists. They spend all their sum- mers on the Riviera. Craig Love and Russel Smith are representatives of the Balfour Company. The Paw Creek Seniors buy their rings from them every year. K. V. Privette is now a noted inventor. Mae Weathers and Billie Mundy are now nurses at Presbyterian Hospital. Hazel Swing is an interior decorator. One of her recent successes has been the decoration of the ballroom of the Waldorf-Astoria. Ralph Blanchard is now pastor of the First Methodist Church in Charlotte. Don Lawing is one of Washington's most oratorical senators. Grier Lee Kennerly is now an English professor at Columbia Uni- versity. Boyd Plummer is owner of a huge cattle ranch in Arizona, and Doyte Christenbury and T. W. Oates are his foremen. Page Nimlicn
