MURRAY 79u2ec6,e4l'e Wteuage The great desire of the ages is for happiness and security growing forth from a foundation of personal freedom based upon high standards of moral and religious virtues. This search is being made constantly by each individual in a different way. There is no rule of thumb that any one can offer to all that will insure success and happiness. There are cer- tain requirements that must be met be- fore happiness can be attained. Every one must feel that he is loved and is wanted by the members of his group. This feeling of being loved and of being a part of a group becomes a part of the individual and grows from with- in. The key to this doorway to hap- piness actually exists within each per son and is found and used only when he places the welfare and happiness of his fellow man before his personal good. nr - FACULTY 4,4 5.40.1 yum. Pavo is no longer a small town, but it is a large thriving city, In fact, Pavo has been made the capital city of Georgia because of extensive progressmade by the use of atomic energy, A distinguished young gentleman has recently been elected Govemor of Georgia, No, he isn't Herman Talmadge this time, He is none other than my old Senior Homeroom teacher, Mr, Thaxton I, Shelley, Governor Shelley has invited all the members of his 1952-53 Pavo Senior Class to a Banquet which he is giving especial- ly for them, Along with the others, I have been ushered to my reserved seat. As I look around me, I hardly recognize the once familiar faces of my old classmates! 1t's amazing how things can change during a few years' absence, Isn't it? The Governor delivers the welcome speech, and Mrs, Joanne Zeigler gives the re- sponse, Mrs, Zeigler is a Laboratory Technician, and she and Mr, Stanley Martin discovered how to convert atomic energy into valuable sources of power which has fast begun to replace electricity, Mr, Zeigler is now president of the First National Bank in Pavo, Mrs, Shirley Brasington, who is seated to my left informs me that her husband, Jim is a veterinarian, and owner of the Big Hill Side Ranch, Shirley has given up her career as an executive secretary at Sears Roebuck and Company to be a constant companion to little Jim Junior, Miss Betty Jean Thomas, Mrs, Dorothy Jones and Mrs, Annie Lou Waters are still employed at Sears, Mrs, Dorothy Westmoreland, who is seated to my right and Mary F, Cannon, who is sitting next to Dot are owners of the popular Westmoreland Beauty Shop which is located on the famous Morris Street, While conversing with Frank Selph, I discov- ered that he is a prosperous produce farmer, He has received several patents for his new farm machinery known by the famous trademark, Selph 's Specialty, At this time, Captain Evans and Lieutenant Clark are given special recognition by the Governor for the outstanding services rendered by them in the U,S, Navy, Vivian Cooper, who is sitting immediately in front of me is now teaching History at the University of lone, Rev, Gene Hobbs is now Pastor of the First Baptist Church in Pavo, He and his wife, Joyce have been working diligently together, As usual, Mr, Ronald Cooper is attracting attention while he is taking a movie picture of the Banquet for his newsreel, Incidentally, Mr, Cooper is owner of Pavo's largest Cinerarama Theater, While everybody has been chatting excitedly, the complete menu has been served, The speaker for the evening is Miss Betty Dorminy, a mis- sionary who has recently returned from Nigeria, She speaks about Americanism, which proves to be most interesting, After the Banquet, I said good-bye to everyone and hurried away to write my next feature story and also a news story for the Pirate's Press, By Margie Foy .- Y,-I' 1 Wx P'? 1xg. .
