Memories Are Forever . . . +- li 'Fey Yi f xr fx Well, here we are-the Paulsboro High School graduating Class of 1982. Although we put our high school years behind us, our lives are reallyjust, begin- ning. We have accomplished much, but we still have much to accomplish. We began our high school education in September of 1979, when high school life was totally new to us. Some of us were ready to face it, and some of us weren't. Our main concern that year was to adjust to our new surroundings, and to help us adjust were: President, Lori Playburneg Vice President. Tonya Hickman: Secretary. Patty Hunt: Treasurer, La- Tonja Gaines: and Representatives Lisa Carthan and Jackie Davis. During that year we sold record albums to raise money for our senior class trip, something that was then just a dream. Many of us also partici- pated in the production of Oklahomal . an accom- plishment we were most proud of. The first year went by slow, but soon we all re- turned tothe halls of P.H.S. as sophomores. To lead us through our second year we selected: President, Patty Huntg Vice President, Maria Elena Giovan- nittiz Secretary, Al Farozzag Treasurer, Nancy Gat- tusog and Representatives Franny Ruslkai and Lisa Buchanan. To raise money for our trip we sold maga- zine subscriptions. In the spring of that year we spent one long and hot. yet enjoyable. day at Six Flags Great Adventure SafarifAmusement Park. This was also the year to order class rings. a lasting memorial of our high school years. The first half of our high school education was now complete. We were juniors. set apart from everyone else with the rings which we received in the fall. To guide us into the second half of our high school years we chose: President, Lou Donofriog Secretary, Fran- nie Ruszkai Vice President, Renee Gezzig Treasurer, Reenie Morris, and Representatives Lisa Carthan and Lisa Wright. We were in charge of the prom, which was given to the seniors, and to help out with the cost we sold assorted candy. Over the years, we've heard from parents and relatives that our high school years are the best years of our lives. and maybe it is this which inspired us to chose The Best OfTimes , by Styx, as the prom theme. With the help of Pur- ple Haze , who provided the music, lights, and 'haZe', the prom became a night long to be remembered. Finally. in September of 1981. we achieved the ultimate. and became seniors. It was at long last our chance to rule the school . We had our final fund raiser to get the money needed for our trip by selling Christmas Cards and other assorted Christmas gifts. Urging us on in our efforts were: President. Maria Elena Giovannitti, Vice President, Fsther Connorg Secretary. Lisa Wrightg Treasurer, Reenie Morrisg and Representatives John Pinizzotto and Maria Saya. The year was fast-paced, and before we knew it, we were boarding that plane to Florida. an old. worn dream which turned into a new, bright reality. After the trip. and in rapid succession. came finals. Baccalaureate practice, Baccalaureate itself, and. fi- nally, after four long, hard, striving years ....... graduationl What happy, yet some fearful. feelings we had aswe walked down the aisle and up the platform. What joy, yet sadness. we experienced as diplomas were placed into hands which were shook by administrators with tidings of 'Tlongratulations! With feelings of relief, we took that big sigh and tossed our caps high into the sky at school's endl All ofthis will remain with us throughout the rest of our lives because memories are forever . . . And I think about this How, if I were to miss One day with my rake and my hoe In planting the seeds Of a few kindly deeds, It would mean fewer memories to grow So I try every hour To plant a new flower, And strike down a weed in the way Where the nice memories grow In that spot that I know No farther than here and today. 1. Mft ii V November December September October January February We began the winter months of the year by electing Tom Kean as our new governor. He edged out Jim Florio by less than 2000 votes. This was one of the closest elec- tions ever recorded. In mid-No- vember the spaceship Columbia, which was the first re-usable spa- cecraft, went into orbit for the sec- ond time. Thanksgiving brought in the holiday season, Christmas was just as great a day as ever, and New Years brought in 1982, our year. Our first day as seniors was Sep- tember 9, 1981. We all felt a sense of pride and leadership that grew with us as the year progressed. Such musical groups as Genisis, AC DC, and the Kinks visited Philadelphia during the fall of 1981. But, probably, the most memorable were the Rolling Stones who sold out J.F.K. Stadi- um for two shows, September 25th and 26th. If you were not into mu- sic there was always sports. Our football team kept its' tradition going by having another winning season. Our girls hockey team worked hard all season and did well in the playoffs. Homecoming fell the same day as Halloween, October 31. We beat Sterling 25- 15, and after the game held our Homcoming Dance. The theme was Endless Love . A ugust 14 Our graduation year came in with a bang! The winter months were times for doing homework in front of the fireplace, throwing snowballs at our friends, and snuggling up to someone close to us. The winter sports season was well under way by Cale America's favorite pas- time, baseball, was in the midst of a strike. Our new President, Ronald Rea- gan, was working hard on the 1981 budget cuts. The hot T.V. show during the summer was General Hospital. We, who, didn't have summer jobs, slept till noon, layed around all day, partied all night, and had many thoughts about our upcoming senior year. July January. Wherever our boys or girls basketball teams went, they battled hard to live up to their titles as Colo- nial Conference champs of a year be- fore. The wrestlers worked just as hard as always and the results were better than ever. nts . l i Q N vain ggi? Qggvix i X rrra ii N55 NO, JN t idildyglbl' 6303? We visited such places as Walt Disney World, Sea World, and Wet and Wild. It was the last time we would all be together as a group and We enjoyed it very much. A di- etician is a person qualified to prepare food or a diet. And a secretary is one employed to handle correspondence and manage routine and detail work for a superior. This is just one description of these important people, but, they mean more than words to us. We, the students, take them for granted but, in the long run, we all think they do one terrific job. These people try their best to make school pleasant for us. The la- dies in the cafeteria make food so we won't go hungry, the secretaries give us communication, the custodians clean the school and protect it. They all do their share and the school appreciates the help and understanding they give to us.
