FCREWORD We, the class of 1956, prepared this, the nineteenth edition of the Pegasus, with great enthusiasm. We Caught a vision of the chance we had to give lasting pleasure to the students and to everyone associated with our School. We wanted our book to reflect our school life, but we wanted to present this life in a lofty manner, emphasizing the best features. We had once written a code for our school. We believed that this expressed the ideals of the students. We chose the code as the theme of our book. We looked up at the Cupola of our building and thought of this as a symbol of the highest level of our thinking. Our school, three times the winner of the Brooks-Irvine Sportsmanship award, has really tried to exemplify the principles of fairness and Compassion. As we learned our subyect matter we desired to learn other lessons too attItudes of helpfulness honesty generosity and brotherhood There were more students In our school than we ever before had The enrollment exceeded eleven hundred Many freshman students from Gloucester Township came Into the lower classes The high school welcomed these students and made every effort to help them to be happy and well ad1usted The class of 56 was deeply grateful to the parents the School Board the faculty and all the friends of the school who helped In making the year successful and the yearbook complete and emoyable TABLE CONTENTS ADMINISTRATION AND FACULTY EDUCATIONAL PROGRAM CALENDAR SENIORS SENIORS HOMEROOMS 12 13 15 44 45 46 CLASS HISTORY SENIOR BEST UNDERCLASSMEN IUNIORS SOPHOMORES FRESHMEN SPORTS FOOTBALL BASKETBALL WRESTLING 485Z'Q 54 56 57 60 61 66 68 69 70 71 in fm HOCKEY BASEBALL TRACK TENNIS CHEERLEADERS CHEERLEADERS COLORCUARD MAJORETTES ls' ACTIVITIES QPEGASUS , KSNAPS STUDENT COUNCIL NATIONAL HONOR PLAYS MUSIC CLUBS ADVERTISEMENTS SOCIETY 78 79 84 85 86 87 88 95 I-11 j '111111iiii1i Zi -14 fl , ffl!
