Sophomore Bookkeeping Class Senior Commercial English Class 1' V I Watching Hockey Practice Ping Pong Cl1GmP5 EDUCATIONAL PROGRAM The school day began when the bus discharged the first student in the morning. It was a short walk from the bus to the door. There he was joined by school- mates living in town. The school code of conduct made courtesy the ruleg so, the students really helped one another. By the time the student reached his locker, he was in the midst of crowds of others assembling books and materials for the morning's work. On the way to the homeroom, he saw faculty advisers on duty. In his homeroom, his teacher greeted him, He waited for the attendance check, and then heard the Bible read- ing and the flag salute. If it chanced to be an assem- bly day, Tuesday, he joined the whole student body in the auditorium for a program. He sometimes went into the attendance office where late students reported, and where excuses for absence were submitted. On club days: Monday, Thursday, and Friday, he went to a meeting of his chosen interest group. If he needed help in changing a course, planning his future, or modifying his school life in any way, he went to the guidance office. If he distinguished himself in some special manner, Mr. Stumpf or Mr. Olson might call him to discuss his service and congratulate him. He could have found cooking classes, shop classes, typing classes in session, for the school, besides the college preparatory course, offered general and com- mercial courses. Gym, music, driver' education, first aid classes were all in progress. The nurse and the doctor were at hand in case of illness, and six tele- phones throughout the building made communication with the homes rapid and practical. As noon hour came on, delicious, nourishing food at a reasonable price was provided by the cafeteria, and every hall had a water cooler so that a fresh drink was at hand, In the halls were monitors to examine the passes granted by teachers when students went from place to place during the time classes were in session. Almost every kind of athletic activity was oifered from football in the fall to tennis in the late spring. Then at five-thirty or six o'clock the long halls were empty and silent, waiting for a new school day. Pep Session in the Stadium The End ot the Day Departing by Bus
