The sophomores have shown us the good spirit in which they work. Magazine sales this year exceeded any previous figure. W extend our good wishes to the sophomores. We welcome the freshmen. They have made worthy members of the clubs in the school. They have done their part to make the term 1949-50 Mr. Stumpf s twenty- Hfth year the best in the history of Pauls- boro High School. They have seen many changes, the introduction of the activity period, the custom of having a freshman reception, the double lunch period, the beginning of a chapter of the National Honor Society. Members of the class have shown special aptitude. The art work of Alice Fuss and james Stapleford has added to every advertising campaign and to every decorating plan for holidays or special events. The humorous antics of Ben Fish and Earl Little brought mirth every time the couple appeared on the stage. Their acting in That Brewster Boy was acclaimed. Eddie Smiths interpretation of Pewee in the same play was certainly a credit to his class. Robert Boone and Mabel Kingsland provided a thrill for the stu- dents as mystery voices in a clever advertising scheme directed by Dorothy Schokel for the junior dance, Killarney Kapersu. jimmy Rule excelled in schol- arship, football, and wrestling, an unusual display of general ability. Harold Cadmus and Eleanor Kupsey made their mark by playing the piano. Harold was chosen King Valentine by his class in February. He chose Georgina Brown as his queen. Betty Sammons was head majorette for three years. The juniors were responsible for the beautiful reception, the junior-senior prom. No year is com- plete without this dance, and the class of 1951 made the occasion the social high light of the season. The class was led in activities this year by shy appearing, able Tom Donofrio. Tom has disting- uished himself in football, and wrestling. When he asked his classmates for cooperation, they felt the sincerity of his appealg for he is an earnest leader. Miss Du Bois has been chairman of junior faculty advisors this year. Mr. Ridinger, Miss Weber, Miss Sparagna, Mrs. Setzer, Mrs. Lewis, and Miss Shaffer were the other advisers. row. lf lfriti. ll Vliilipi-, .I lie-irgiiiiifi. ll. joins, lt, lliiiiiit-, Il Samiiiiiiis. ll, lliireripult. The te.1m was sparked by Peanut Battaglia, june Yulle, Trapper Haggerty. Deetlee McLean, Marie Lilly, antl Pit Costello. Peanut and Pat were thosen to-etpttiins by their teimmates at the beginning ol the season. Muth credit is elue to Miss Mutchler, the coach, for her fine, patient work with the team. LC SUS S FIT lfrom September until spring, the Pegarnr staff patiently and earnestly worked to try to produce for Mr. Stumpfs twenty-fifth year .rn excellent thirteenth edition of the year- book. lfrom the time the faculty chose the statf from the list of those who wished to work on the book, there was constant indus- try. livery activity period found the staff in Room loo busily engaged in writing and proofing. New ideas were numerous. There were the thoughts of having signatures under the portraits and of having printed end pages. The .irt staff: XY'erner lfehlauer, Ruth jenkins. Mary Comishock were advised by Miss Havens. Miss Trick guided Rosemarie XY'ilhelm. Sarah XVorrell, and the other typisrs. Mrs. Molitor directed the photo- graphers: Helen Wfild. Henry Boughter, and Xwilliam Phifer. The work of pre- paring copy and arranging the book was supervised by Mrs. Daniels. Mr. Klose with his staff managed the financing of the book. For the help of students and faculty the staff is grateful. They trust that this yearbook will be a joy to faculty and students and to all friends of Paulsboro High School. iBUSHNESS STAFF cr r lil ex L 1111 t r w stwnf 1' S L Lt ic i :ri n itton r ini init s ir 1 i im TYPUNG STAFF lfir-r row: Miss Trick, M. Miss Sparagna has guided the stat? in the development of a good organ for the expression of the spirit of the school. In addition to the work done in the school, con- tact with other groups interested in journalism has broadened the horizon of the staff leading them to understand work done in other schools. The staff has learned to evaluate the important news of the school and to highlight outstanding personalities and happen- ings. The progress in the development of student gov- ernment was very great this year. The council is com- posed of the homeroom presidents. It has established between the students and the faculty a spirit of co- operation. Under the leadership of Mrs. Lewis, the council has maintained a high standard by upholding ideals of personal conduct and by encouraging and pro- moting activities. The council is a member of the national. state, and local federations of high school tountils. V, St-qituiz S. Laistelln, H. Ventofamti, I. Pettit. .-X. Iiolizuiiski, .-X. Today, in new uniforms, the band, color guard, cheerleaders create an impressive sight. Hearts beat high as they appear to the strains of stir- ring music. The band is the best we have ever had. The chorus for whom the P. T. A. is striving to get robes is the largest that the school has ever known. The orchestra had a new beginning last year. The growth has been steady, and this organization is gain- ing in power. With the expanding of Mr. Schopfer's musical organizations has come a great increase in school spirit. At our games, at our assemblies, and at our plays, the music has added much to our enjoyment and has contributed to our success. The pride of the community has been stirred as the grateful student body has expressed thanks for new uniforms and for the assurance of help and support. BAND First row: E. Carter, M. Shiv- cry, G.
