1970, a new decade and a new beginning A baby cries, a new life begins. Certainly all babies cry, but this minute combination of cells has reason to cry. He has not felt the warmth of a mother’s touch or the tender love of a family. All he feels is the slick curved walls of a test tube that has served him as a cocoon serves a silkworm. Today, chocked full of wild, way-out ideas, innovations, and new ways of liv- ing—the world is bursting into an age of change! Changes readily accepted and equally repelled. Imagine living in an era when man is so near to the impossible dream; the dream of reaching the unreach- able star and going even a step further and actually walking on the moon.

DHS challenges its students and all mankind. Neon lights reflecting colors of red, orange, and yellow on the silhouette of a boy and girl walking arm in arm along a deserted street, the sudden appearance of a long haired boy in the classroom, mini-shirts found on the young and young at heart, riots, and revolutions on the uni- versity campuses—examples of an ever changing age and the eager desire for an individual to be an individual. Love, peace, and success—the sides of an equilateral triangle of life. A life filled with the hope of every individual to ac- cept the new ways of living and to achieve the challenges facing today’s youth. The challenge of Dorman High School is to unite its students in learning together, working together, and facing changes to- gether with the hope of an even better tomorrow. A messy beginning to a beautiful finish of Dor- man’s additional classrooms.
