Physical education develops coordination and promotes competitive spirit. Mr. Phillips aids student teacher, Mr. Beck, in preparation for a career in teaching. English literature is expounded in Creative English. Student Teachers Observe And Practice In Class Only a few of the many ways that Dorman helps the student to grow are pictured here. For those students who possess the ability to write, a course in Creative Writing taught by Mrs. Joyce Cleveland is offered. This is one of the best courses that DHS offers to help one along the road to a successful writing career. Mr. Phillips was only one of the many who helped train college students in the field of practice teaching. This practice gives the prospective teacher a bird's eye view of what his future career holds. One of the most enjoyable sports during physical education is volleyball. Coaches Curtis Powell and Wade Corn instruct in this field of study. Biology students find microscopic analysis guite enjoyable. Biology students experiment, observe, and analyze.

Miss O'Shields aids homemakers in the preparation of a balanced meal. Preparation For College And Mechanical Drawing students prepare for career in drafting. Vocational classes have proven to be a vital phase of any school's curriculum. Enjoy- ment as well as learning is found in each class. Home Economics is a necessary course for any girl desiring someday to become a housewife. Cooking as well as sewing stimu- late many girls at Dorman to realize their potential. As stated by our former President Kennedy, physical fitness is not only good for the body but also is essential for the mind to work properly. Though only an hour a day is devoted to exercise and fun in the physical education classes instructed by Mrs. Kay Parris, each girl receives an added enjoyment to a regu- lar school day. Mechanical Drawing courses offer one the knowledge necessary to compete in a chang- ing, progressive world. Without this course, many of today's exclusive buildings and bridges would not be available. Science prepares those interested in ad- vanced learning in the field of biology, chemistry, and physics and allows them to build a good foundation for future use. Science interest is sparked by experiments. Physical fitness is part of everyday routine in physical education. 3
