Cavaliers Play Home Games At Snyder Field On August 9, 1965, approximately fifty en- thusiastic boys reported to the practice field to begin training for football. A very efficient coaching staff led by Coach Wade A. Corn, molded the inexperienced boys into a challenge for any AAA team. Assisting Coach Corn were Coaches Curtis Powell and Ernie Redd, line and end coaches, respectively. At the beginning of the season Coach Corn made the statement: With our schedule, we are going to have to play up to our potential in every game to improve last year's record, but with a few breaks I am sure well win some ball games. The record of 3-5-3 was an improvement over the former year. Though we were not always victorious so far as scores were con- cerned, every grid man displayed the quali- ties of a champion during the entire season. One of the highlights of the season was when Principal Doyle W. Boggs awarded Coach Corn with a trophy after his 100th vic- tory in the coaching field. All players were commended for the fine spirit of team work and cooperation which they displayed. When a coach makes the statement, I would like to have each of these boys for my own, one can be sure that the team is made up of boys with determination, high character, and a true Dorman spirit. 26
