Enthusiasm Sparked By College Representatives Juniors and Seniors began seriously think- ing of college entrance requirements when representatives from various colleges visited the campus to talk with them. An impressive ceremony was held by the National Honor Society when new members were inducted. Mr. Boggs presented them with pens and membership cards. A welcome part of every school day is the lunch period when teachers and students enjoy a delicious meal. The National Honor Society inducts new members. The impres- sive ceremony inspires others to attain a higher scholastic average. Teachers enjoy break from classroom during lunch. Students attentively listen to Converse College representative explain requirements, facilities, and college life.

Band members prepare for stiff inspection before public performance. Russell Walden, Ronnie Thornton, and Kirk McKeown collect canned goods and toys to spread Christmas cheer. Council Reactivates Student Participation Christmas season was an active time at Dorman. The Student Council, backed by the faculty and student body, started the season by erecting and decorating a huge tree in the lobby. Boxes of food and toys were collected and distributed to those less fortunate. Participating in the city's annual Christmas parade, the Marching Cavaliers underwent stiff inspection in readiness for the parade. Another example of Christmas giving was that of the Anchor Club. The members unani- mously voted to help four underprivileged children. Pennants were sold to help provide money for this project. The true Christmas Spirit prevailed throughout the school. One of the many projects of the Anchor Club was selling pennants. Officers left to right are Annette Collins, Cheryl McGaha, Elaine Anderson, and Peggy Malone. Buying pennant is member Vicki Outz. The Marching Cavaliers display precision in performance at the Spartanburg Annual Christmas Parade.

Alan Hughes, President of Interact Club, and Kirk McKeown, Student Council President, perform the Interact Club's daily task of flag raising. The flagpole was used at Camp Wadsworth during World War I. Receiving class rings brings not only seniority but also new responsibilities. President of the P-TA, Mr. O. O. Knight, enjoys a duel between the Fighting Cavaliers and opponents at a Friday night football game. West View Ruritan Donates Historical Flagpole Upon hearing that the West View Ruritan Club was to erect a flagpole, U. S. Senator Donald Russell advised that the school would be given a flag which had flown over the Nation's capitol. This was a very welcome addition to the Dorman campus. Many ardent fans cheered the Cavaliers on to victory or encouraged them in their losses. For days after rings were received, seniors compared them for size, color, and beauty. The lunchroom portrays the use of rectan- gular, trapezoidal, and round tables placed together or separately. This is only one phase of the very modern furnishings in our school. Dorman lunchroom portrays modern furniture and building design.
