EXECUTIVE OFFICER LIEUTENANT coMMANDER LEoPoLD D GIL IR Lieutenant Commander Gil graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree in Industrial and Systems Engineering from the Naval Reserve Officers Training Corps program at the University of Southern California in 1984. His initial sea tour was as Boilers Officer, Main Propulsion Assistant CMPAD, and Training Officer on USS VANCOUVER CLPD 25 followed by a tour on USS VVILLIAM H. STANDLEY CCG 325 as Battery Control Officer in 1988. In 1990, he attended the Naval Postgraduate School where he was awarded a Master of Science degree in Engineering Science Cemphasis in Aeronautical Engineering - Missile Designl in 1992. He attended Surface Warfare Department Head School in September 1992 and reported to USS CALLAGHAN CDDG 9943 as Combat Systems Officer. From1996 to 1998, he served on joint duty in the Commander in Chief, U.S. Pacific Command CUSCINCPACD I6 Directorate. During this assignment, he held the billets of Command, Control, Communications and Computers CC4D Systems Operations Manager and Chief of the Joint Task Force QTFD C41 Architectures branch. While at USCINCPAC, he completed joint Professional Military Education Phase I CIPME PH D through the Air Command and Staff College seminar program. Lieutenant Commander Gil's personal awards include the Defense Meritorious Service Medal, the Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal with gold star, and the Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal. He also wears vari- ous other unit and campaign awards. His hometown is Ewa Beach, Hawaii.

coMMAND1NG oFF1cER COMMANDER THOMASI STREI IR Commander Thomas I Strei graduated from the University of Il.l.1I101S m 1980 and was commissioned through the Naval Reserve Officer Training Corps and initially assigned to USS IUNEAUCLPD 107 as Maclunery and Boilers Officer and Main Propulsion Assistant and USS WILLIAM H STANDLEYCCG attended the Surface Warfare Department Head Course followed by Weapons Officer aboard USS FANNINGCFF 10769 and Combat Systems Officer aboard USS HALSEYCCC1 233 Commander Strei assumed command of USS DEVASTATORCMCM 65 in Iune 1993 In conjunction with the transfer of his crew Mine Countermeasures Rotational Crew GOLF Commander Stre1 took command of USS GUARDIANCMCM 5,111 September 1994 Two staff assignments ashore have been in Washington DC 327 as First LT. Departing STANDLEY in 1984, he The first as a Financial Analyst in the Office of the Navy Comptroller and the second as the Surface Warfare Program Congressional Liaison Officer in the Navy Office of Legislative Affairs. Commander Strei is a graduate of the Naval Warfare Command and Staff College, holds a Masters in Business Administration! Financial Management from the Naval Post Graduate School, and a Masters Degree in National Resource Strategy from the Industrial College of the Armed Forces, National Defense University He is also a graduate of the Defense Senior Acquisition Course and a 1997 Massachusetts Institute of Technology Seminar XXI Fellow. Commander Slrei's personal decorations include the Meritorious Service Medal Ctwo awardsl, the Navy Commendation Medal Ctwo awardsl, and the Navy Achievement Medal. K' CQMMAND MASTER CHIEF MSCM CSWXAWJ Garland M. Zoppy Master Chief Garland Michael Zoppy was born on 23 Iuly 1960, in Newark, New Jersey. After joining the Navy in August of 1979, he completed Recruit Training in Great Lakes, Illinois. Master Chief Petty Officer Zoppy reported on board the USS PAUL F. FOSTER in August of 1998. His personal awards include the Navy Commendation Medal, Navy Achievement Medal, Battle E Award, Good Conduct Award, National Defense Medal, Armed Forces Expeditionary Medal, Humanitarian Medal, Sea Service Deployment Ribbon, Overseas Ribbon, and pistol qualification with Expert . Master Chief Zoppy is married to the for- mer Emiliana Santos of Angeles City, Philippines and has one son, Chris and one daughter, Anne Marie. They reside in Everett, Washington.
