The Bucs could do no wrong as they bowled over their first three opponents, Hazelwood West, Ritenour, and Normandy, obtaining two of the three shutouts that were to be tallied in the course of the season. Hazelwood Central and the demise of the Pirates came in the fourth week Both teams sported a 3 O record and the game was picked to be the premier of the year ln front of an overwhelming crowd which included photographers from both large St Louis newspapers and a camera from Channel Two News the Bucs suffered their first defeat With Homecoming two weeks away the Bucs bounced back to a 14 O win over the McCluer North Stars As per tradition the Homecoming game was played in the mud However traditions are made to be broken and with a mere 5 seconds left on the clock McCluer pulled off a 16 14 victory Hazelwood East saw the Pirates record fall to 4 3 so they looked to Riverview with the hopes of pulling out a winning season With a 12 10 Oakville however recorded the final victory and the Bucs ended the season 5 4 victory, the record was upped to 5-3 and a guaranteed winning, season.
