October 14 was an exciting day at Pattonville. Beginning the Homecoming festivities was the parade that ended at the senior high school in time for the pre-game show. Enthusiasm was high as classes and clubs worked all week building floats. Seniors took first place with their theme, Pirate Revolution , juniors second with Can the Comets , and sophomores third with Here Comes the Sun . Dr. James Rudolph, Superintendent of Schools, and Principal Kenneth Buhlig rode in the parade chauffered by Billy Jones in his antique car. Other participants were girls' cross country, pep club, student council, Thespian Society, AFS, and the German club. Everyone worked to produce an enjoyable and memorable Homecoming parade. The day's events were climaxed with a dance in the multi-purpose room with ClVlLlAN furnishing the music. , ,,,,,,,,,,, , , , , c g g un . ,' , f4l l , nl , Homecoming Parade , TRPA' 75-Um if wc-nl. 23525 lisa. ailm-

HOMECOMING GAME It was one o'clock in the afternoon of October 14, 1978, and the homecoming game was underway. l-lowever, it was not to be the way the Pirates would have liked. McCluer had the ball on their five yard line and things were looking good for the Pirate defense until lVlcCluer put together a drive that no one had pulled off against Pattonville in the five previous games. They took the ball and marched 95 yards down field to draw first blood and go ahead 7-O. The Pirates would not stay down for long, however. They marched right back and John Norman put the Bucs to within one point on an option around left end. The extra point was good and the score tied at halftime. The third quarter found lVlcCIuer back on top 10-7 after a field goal. ln the final stanza, the Bucs put together their last scoring drive and grabbed the lead for the first time in the game with a touchdown by Joe Walsh. The extra point was good also, and the score board read 14-10 Pattonville. With time running out, the Bucs kicked off and things looked good if the defense could only hold. They did, and McCluer was forced to punt. With about two minutes on the clock, the offense could not find room for a first down. The punt left McCluer deep in their own territory with less than two minutes to go. They passed their way down the field and with 5 seconds left on the clock had a 4th down, 16 yards from a touchdown. The ball went up for grabs in the endzone and as the buzzer went off the receiver came down with the ball. Final score 16-14 McCluer. , .gf ,f I 'I . 1, ,- V 1 ,ffxvl ' ' Af' A- J ..,. .,.., y.,,, , , ,ixl K
