7 X. r mr' Throughout our years in Patti Welder there are c e rta in e ve nt s which punctuate our memories. Remember that first time we got a look at the whole student body when we went to Smith-Fischer Gym for the opening assembly. Gee, weren't there a lot of kids. We complained a little bit bec a use we couldn't hear everything. By Thanksgiving when we returned for a holiday program we felt more at home. After each home football game we danced to music of the Swingarees with that special somebody, Golly, how everybody fussed and fumed getting the crepe paper to drape right from those high rafters. What a flutter there was the night the May Queen wa s crowned amid all the pomp that Patti Welder could muster. t The weather got a little warmer, and suddenly on Sunday night in May. we found our- selves smothered in yards of ga b a r dine . wearing a cocked hat. We felt sort of silly, but the second time we put them on we didn't mind. Really, we didn't think too much about what we wore a s we filed into Smith-Fischer in solemn single file past what seemed to be miles of folding chairs. For once we found our places without a scramble. Well. that's about it. We started our Patti Welder career here, and here we end it. Funny--we can hear perfectly now, and Smith-Fischer wasn't really so hard to dec- orate. What if it is sort of barny. Smith-Fischer is cra mmed with memories we'll never forget ....
