The Confer- ence, site of which is the Old Hearst Ranch near Pleasanton, California, is composed of high school junior girls from schools in this area. The girls are chosen on the basis of scholarship, demon- strated leadership, and personality. Delegates from Pat- terson for this year are pictured at the right, left to right: June Bennett, Maurine Yale, Elva Christensen, and Dixie Cleek. Not pictured, Beatrice Andrews. The Conference was held on April 14-15. 48 I From the standpoint of publicity, boys' sports are the most popular in this school. However, an extensive program of girls' athletic activities is maintained which is a credit to the school and to its girls' physical education instructor, Miss Ingraham. Starting with swimming in the fall, and continuing with speedball, basket- ball, volleyball, s oftball, numerous individual sports, and ending with swim- ming again in the spring, the girls here enjoy and benefit from a well-rounded program. The most encouraging aspect of this year's football season was the material that Coach Maze developed for future. years. The poor showing, from the won and lost standpoint, can be attributed to the greenness of the sophomore and junior laden team This same weakness, however, forbodes woe for the opponents of Patterson for the next two years as they will D1 have to face veterans of two and three years of Varsity experience. In tournament play, too, the Tigers did well. At the annual Gustine Invitational Tournament, December 8 and 9, the team was runner-up to Tracy.
