P H S MEMORIES 1935 Lorene Wrnders wrthdrew to enter Clay Crty Hrgh School In August 1934 thrrteen rndustrrous students took seats by the wrndows and assumed the role of Senrors They drd and drd rt suc cessfully and surely deserxed a drploma whrch rs the reward for therr efforts The Senrors wrth Alfred McCallum as sponsor met and elect ed the followrng officers Nelson Grafe presrdent Paulrna Grafe xrce presrdent and James Ruble secretary treasurer In order to rarse money fo class needs the Senrors sold candy Durrng the first of the year the publrcatron of an annual was drscussed All the class favored the undertakrng rf the financral srde could be arranged After hgurrng verv carefully plans for an annual began to take form On October 31 the class decrded to wear caps and gowns at Baccalaureate Fvzercrses and Commencement Each cap and gown was rncluded rn a unrt consrstrng of 15 programs 15 rnwrtatrons 1 record and 1 sterlrng srlx er emblem A Rampage Baccalaureate serxrces were held Sunday Aprrl 14 The Commencement address was delrxered on Thursday nrght Aprrl 18 bv Professor Trlden of DePauw Unrxersrty The Alumnr Banquet was held Aprrl 20 So ends the four years of Hrgh School for a very rndustrrous class who wrll set forth to seek therr fortunes Therr rdeals are hrgh lrkewrse therr hopes FRANKIE THE JANITOR fBy James Rublej Frankre Frankre the Janrtor man He sweeps the floors as clean as he can He washes the board and the wrnders too But hrs greatest pleasure rs a good old chew He rs the one that scoops the corl And rarses the flag on the brg flag pole He carrres water when the well runs dry And he keeps us wrrm when wrnter rs nrgh At hrs work he never surrenders To hold hrs pants he wears suspenders The boys the naughty lrttle whelps Pull at these trll Frankre yelps They stretch em out and let em flop At Frankre s sprnal cord they stop They go wrth force where they most abound Frankre s b rck rs tough and brown Frankres never cross and never complarns He sees the sunshrne beyond the rarns Frankre lox es hrs work and does rt well Better thrng of a man I could hardly tell 11 I , , . . . .
