The Audio-Visual Depart- ment now offers a program that allows students to use the audio-visual aids. A listening station and curriculum-ori- ented tapes are available in the library. Although teachers are using more aids, Mr. Cobb would like to see more student participation. The library continues to per- form its duties. Miss Gibbon and Mrs. Crenshaw are always cheerful and quick to recog- nize students. Students and teachers alike find Miss Gib- bon invaluable as she is always willing to stop her work to find information for them. The task of teaching math rests on the shoulders of four women. Despite their heavy work load these teachers are always willing to help students during or after class. An extra- curricular activity of the de- partment is the sending of stu- dents to the regional math contest at V.C.U. MRS. PHYLLIS ANDREWS B.S., Madison MRS, MARVINE TYLER B.A., Westhampton S.C.A. Varying Departments Along with the task of teach- ing Health and Physical Educa- tion, Mr. Ritchie and Miss Dowdy also take on other duties. Besides being coaches, they teach drivers education in the classroom and behind the wheel. The Science Department is one that offers a varied degree of study for its students. One may choose only to take the basic subjects and not con- tinue his studies any further. But a student who wishes to advance has the advantage of the knowledge and the interest shown by the teachers of this department. MR. Mrs. Wright, the sole mem- ber of the Art Department, has been kept busy pulling for our school publications and other activities. Although hard pressed at times, she always manages to be gracious and alert. She has found time, de- spite her busy schedule, to keep up her private art work which has been displayed in Fairfax, Hanover, and Prince William County art shows. The Social Studies Depart- ment is a vital part of a stu- dent ' s knowledge of the nation and world. The government classes learned about State government and the county court system on trips to the General Assembly and Hanover Courthouse. The 20th Century history class explored in depth the history of this century. The department is not just history, economics and sociology are also taught. MRS.
