The sun was setting as the Class of I964 began their march across the school campus. The feet, keep- ing time with the processional, be- gan their last high school march. . Top five honor graduates grace- fully presented their speeches. Validictorian Laurel Annabeth Stoller introduced the theme, ln- S victus , unconquerableg stating l' that there are things in the Twen- tieth Century that are not advan- tageous but one must rise above them. Richard DeWitt Shepherd continued, his topic being the submersion of the individual. Ignorance in the mod- ern world was the theme used by Opal Elizabeth Scruggs. Horace Bass Thomas followed with a sum- mary of declining morality, the weakening of ideals. Carol Lynn Spicer ended with the fears of the future and how to overcome them. Drums sounded, seniors rose and accepted their diplomas.
