Different Strokes for Different Folks The Tennis team was coached by Mr. Ray Carlson. The new coach brought with him new coaching strategy and a lot of team spirit. However the team was young with only three seniors, and finished their season with one win against North. Competing in regions were doubles LeeAnn Utto and Cheryl Theisen, who lost in the second round. Tina Purkapile and Lisa Otto competed in singles. Senior Lisa Otto advanced to the quarter-finals. The girls Swim team was coached by Michelle Schmid. The team was young and placed low in the standings with two wins over Roosevelt. Diane Almstrom proved her individual competitive ability with many records being set. Diane set new school records in the 50 free style. 500 meter and 200 meter free-style. and 100 butterfly events this year. This year was the first year of boys and girls soccer, which was an exciting addition to the sports scene. Many of the participants found soccer both fun and rewarding. While the teams won few games they were both in the building stages and concentration on developing basic skills. At Right: J. Scott races for the ball against his Edison opponent. Below Lett: R.
