We all have many memories of summer vacation — our favorite time of year. Whether it be going to Twin Lake (or perhaps Calhoun for those of you embarrassed to be seen in your swimsuit), tubing down the Apple River on a hot summer’s day. T-P-ing your best friend’s house on a cool summer’s eve. going to parties, or a family vacation with your carsick dog, participating in a summer stock play, or marching in the band. Memories of our years in high school have been built in the summer. How you spent last summer, or plan to spend this summer, the Orator Staff wishes you many warm, carefree days of summer sunshine, the kind on which memories are built. 2 3 1) Together forever. 2) The Riflettes 3) The Patrick Henry marching band worked many long, hard hours over the summer, and placed 4th in the Hopkins Raspberry festival. 4) Party time 4 Homecoming Homecoming Homecoming Homecoming Home- coming '82 Style This year, homecoming meant a time of change for the Senior class of 1982. Tradition was broken when, on Sept. 15. eleven girls were voted into the traditional Top 10. Then, on Sept. 18. another tradition was broken. The class of 1982 chose six girls to represent them in Homecoming ’81. rather than the usual five. On Sept. 22, in front of a crowded auditorium open to Seniors only, ballots were counted and football captains Joe and Tom proceeded to torture the six girls. Finally, after what seemed an eternity, they simultaneously planted a kiss on the cheek of our new Queen. Theresa Carlisle. Homecoming week kicked off with a Pepfest on Tuesday, followed by something new. an all-school talent show before the Queen's coronation on Thursday night. As proud parents and friends looked on. Queen Theresa proved herself The Sweetheart of Henry High” by bringing two reluctant Jr. Attendants up the royal ascent to her throne. Then came Friday. THE BIG DAY! After a long day of cutting classes for the students of Patrick Henry, the moment of truth had finally come. It was time to Show Southwest Who’s Best!” and show them we did! Final score: Pats 16 — Indians 13. The week ended with the annual victory dance, with music by the fantastic band Buster Friendly. The marching band practices during class for all the field and other events. The members performed an excellent half-time show for homecoming and all other home games. The marching band includes the dancelines, flagline, riflettes and the colorguard. The members like to have fund raisers, such as skate- athons, and selling candy and cookies. A lot of the members buy the candy for themselves. They plan on using the money for spats and they hope to go on a trip this school year. The band performed winter and spring concerts. To be on the National Honor Society you must have an excellent grade point average. It is a great priviledge. They are glad this year has been a success and hope the future members have just as much success. The Orator staff wishes you good luck in the years to come. yp 0| t 1) M. The Orator Staff is proud of this year’s yearbook. They put much time and patience into it. They spend long, hard hours on preparing it. Without the student body, this fantastic yearbook would have never been possible. The students on Orator were satisfied with the outcome of this yearbook. They receive a lot of help from their advisor, Mr. Peterson. He had to start out with many new people this past year, but they turned out as old pres. They spend a lot of time and effort keeping the spirit moving in our school. These rowdy girls help the crowd cheer for all the games and matches. Being a cheerleader is more than jumping around and being rowdy. These girls take much of their time in the summer to build up their skills. Every game or match they give each player special treats. The cheerleaders care a lot for the players. They make the pep tests exciting. Another fun thing they do is T.P.ing the players’ houses. The players might return this gesture by having a balloon fight. The Orator staff feels we have the best cheerleaders ever. 1.) The 1981-82 Football cheerleaders: Bottom to Top: Melanie Marshall. The choir is a hard working organization. They all put a lot of extra time into practicing and performing their abilities. There are approximately 10 members on the chess club and 25 members on the speech team. Chess competes against a variety of schools in and outside of Minneapolis. Their advisor is Mr. Knapek. They have been moderately successful this year with the help of Senior David Bryant. They hope many more students will join their club next year. The speech team has improved throughout the year. They have made Henry proud. They practice with Ms. Blom. Everyone writes and recites their own speech. This club's abilities will prove to be helpful in their future years. If you are interested in speech, this club will open many doors for you. The choir is a charming group of people who fill our school with song. They practice during class and have concerts in the winter and spring. They travel to other grade schools hoping to make the younger people interested in music. They are directed by Mr. Oakvik. The Choir is looking for you to sing along with them. 1) D. Bryant and B. Hene. 2) B. Knibbs and D. Bryant getting into it. 3) Humorous moments at chess practice. 4) B. In the same way. this book tries to reflect the entire '81-82 school year. It is not the real thing, but it will recall for you and me the faces and events that made this such a good year. Of course, students who were active and participated in school events will find this ‘'reflector even more interesting. May your memories of Henry '81-82 be good. And Then There Were None is Agatha Christie’s reknowned tale of ten people who have been invited to a secluded mansion and who all have one thing in common . . . MURDER. As strange, mysterious things begin to happen, like Marston’s suicide and Ethel Roger’s fatal overdose, the guests soon realize that they will each be murdered in turn according to the Ten Little Indians nursery rhyme. The deaths continue throughout the play in a variety of gruesome (and very comical) ways, and involve clues, explanations, suspicions and terror until finally the murderer himself is killed, leaving our hero and heroine to live happily ever after. 1) The downstairs maid. M. Riley, begins the play. 2) The cook. E. Lund, faints when she is accused of murder. 3) Lombard. D. Mosher, tells the rest of his suspicions. 4) Miss Brent. D. The Spirit You can feel it in the air on the day of a pepfest — that special feeling inside when you know your school is number one! The students of Patrick Henry have experienced this feeling many times during the course of their years in high school. They filed into the new gym to get a good seat while the teachers were making sure no one skipped out early. Cheerleaders cheered, dancelines danced, captains spoke, and the class spirit was formed. But more importantly, pepfests have become the backbone of pride in dear ’ole Henry High. 1.) The Front Five. Pastel Pats, and Guide-Ons move to the Henry rouser during the fall sports assembly. 2.)
