Where The Nuts Come From SENIOR CLASS PL A Y This year's senior class presented CHARLEY'S AUNT, written by Brandon Thomas. This play was an English comedy which had the audience in a rage of laughter. The play centered around two Oxford undergraduates who are madly in love with two beautiful young girls, and were determined to marry them... no matter what had to be done! TOP RIGHT: Ella (C. Rieman) reveals her inner most secrets to Charley's Aunt ABOVE CENTER: Donna Lucia D'Alva-dorez (P. Thomas) has a close moment with Sir Francis Ches-ney (D. Tinjum). ABOVE: The young ladies remind Charley's Aunt to get parental consent for their marriages. 12 LEFT: A tender touch i$ not appreciated by Donna Lucia. ABOVE: Jack (M. Meir) and Charley (M. BOTTOM RIGHT: Kitty and Jack kiss to pledge their love. 13 Fun For All In TheFall AUTUMN HAPPENINGS We all had a busy fall season with all the hustle and bustle of the many fall activities. Some activities were the street square dance, which was fun for all who came, and our energetic and full of spirit pep fests, which gave us all a chance to show our school spirit. Then there were our school dances, where we all go to have fun and usually succeed. Yes, it was a busy fall, but it was a fall we will always remember. CONTEST PLAY '76 A DREAM? by Pirandello was this year's contest play. The one act was produced for regional competition against other schools. It is a play of illusion and reality involving the use of fantasy and dreams to reveal the truth behind a humdrum surface situation. A trophy was awarded to the cast for their efforts. U LEFT: Fantasy or reality? 16 t Henry Celebrates Winter SNOW-DAZE '76 Henry's second annual Sno-Daze '76 was an eventful week in which to participate and enjoy. From the different dress days--Monday, dress up; Tuesday, celebrity; Wednesday, Western; Thursday, Grub; Friday, Fifties--to many well attended activities such as die crowning of the Sno-King, a tug-of-war, snowball eating contest, ski trip, and a concluding, yes, Aay fifties' dance, everyone had fun. Victor, of the snowball eating contest wants . . .more snowballs as a reward! A Week Of Heritage BLACK HISTORY WEEK 76 National Black History Week this year was February 8-15. The week's activities were presented well by the black students of Henry. It was a busy week from the different dress-up days to the auditoriums, which included a talent show with music, song, dance, and serious readings. 20 TOP LEFT: P. One More Time Interim 75 Interim '75 was an exciting change for all. With the many activities, everyone had a good time. The play was entitled ANTIC SPRING, by Robert Nail, and involved six high school students out for a day of fun and laughter in the country which resulted in comic disaster! Antic Spring JUNIOR CLASS PLAY The Good Times! MARDI GRAS 75 Mardi Gras 75 was once again a big success. Everyone who went had fun. The day began early with the talent show, and lasted late with the dance. Everyone enjoyed the variety of booths sponsored by the various clubs and organizations connected with Henry High. There was something for everyone, from a spook-house and a fish pond for younger folks, to a Shakespeare play for the older folks. Mardi Gras is a tradition we hope Henry will keep. Peterson, sits upon his throne with a look of happiness and appreciation! 27 Sweet Apple USA Bye Bye Birdie Last summer a new tradition was started when Henry presented its first summer play, BYE BYE BIRDIE. The play centered around the small town of Sweet Apple where Conrad Birdie, an Elvis Presley type, bid an all American teenage girl good-bye with an All-American kiss before being inducted into the army. This is when the quiet little town goes into an uproar; from Kim's envious girlfriend and their jealous boy-friends to the determined Spanish Rose. The choir displayed this in the operetta, Scrooge . Also, the Christmas and spring concerts provided other chances to show their talent and entertain all those who attended. LEFT: The risers look alive now. 31 Sounds Of Spirit PEP BAND Dedication is getting to school by 7:30 to practice in the Pep Band. Pep fests, auditoriums, basketball, and hockey games take much time to prepare for. Together with their student director, Corey Bystedt, the Pep Band made all those activities more colorful. Lob ash. 32 Good Things Come In Small Packages ORCHESTRA The Orchestra is very small in size but consists of very dedicated members. Together they presented a Christmas concert, a spring operetta and were featured in the spring concert playing popular tunes, as well as some of the classics. The band played at many sporting events as well as a spring concert. The band led in school spirit as well as entertainment. TOP CENTER: Long and cold hours of practice pay off at Homecoming. Energetic Girls’ Organization Henry has an Ego. Energetic Girls' Organization, that is. This group of girls, each in a sport, get together for one reason, to have fun. Led by the energetic Ms. Koopmans, they planned pool, bowling, and holiday parties which provided many good times to remember. TOP: The EGO officers are M. Welter, S. Eichman, S. Milliren. Selling them was just one of the projects our National Honor Society completed. N. H. S. is a group of about fifty seniors led by Mr. Carlson and Miss Blom who carry out service project for our school and community, and manage to have fun at the same time. The Future Is Now FUTURE HOMEMAKERS OF AMERICA Look to the future. The Future Homemakers of America do just that by planning and preparing special dinners and parties. Helping others less fortunate was also high on their list as they conducted D-Day at Henry and collected for UNICEF. To accumulate a better understanding of scientific breakthroughs, they have visited the crimelab and plan to visit the Medical Museum. The Chess club members have joined together not only to play in the chess tournaments, but to go to different junior highs tutoring the future Bobby Fishers of America. Chances are that you don't see these work program students during the regular school day. Classes start at 7:30 and end at 10:30. After that, they go to their various jobs and gain on-the-job experience in many different trades. If you've ever walked into our school store, you've been served by D. E.C. A. This class is another type of work program where the students run the school store. D.E.C.A. students learn valuable skills helpful in the retailing business. TOP CENTER: M. Keyes. 62 Truck On Pats CROSS COUNTRY This year's cross country team was extremely strong with seven varsity, twenty junior varsity, and six girl CC runners. The varsity team, led by Dave Woods, did exceptionally well. The team tied for first in the Conference standings and finished second in the City event. The team finished with a record of 7 wins 1 loss. The Junior Varsity team also had a good season running away undefeated in the City and winning the Regional meet. The girls team record, 8 wins 0 losses, placed the girls Debbie Berger, the teams 1 runner, 17th in the State meet. Girls Play To Win VOLLEYBALL, TENNIS Girl's volleyball seemed to be set up well and was spiked with accuracy as both the A squad and B squad finished 7 and 1 and placed second in the City. This year's tennis team, led by co-captains Stacy Eichman and Meg Gorzycki, consisted of many underclassmen swingers and only a few seniors. With the breaks against them for the better part of the season, they finished with a 2 and 6 record. This year's team did exceptionally well on the ice with teamwork playing an important part in the success of their season. Experience is also a major factor in their success. There are ten seniors on the team and all ten have been on the starting line-up. Many long, wet, and hard hours go into the preparation for their meets. The team consists of 14 swimmers led by co-captain B. O’Reilly and C. Bruhjell. The team's coach is Mr. Seikkula. 87 Pins And Wins HENRY WRESTLING The year 1975 was a rebuilding year for Henry’s wrestling team. Out of forty participants only two were returning seniors. There were a few individual wrestlers who performed well, but the team was unable to balance their skill for a good season. Despite their record, the team spirit remained high.
